Last week I went to the movie theater and saw Dune Part Two with my brother. It was one of his gifts for my birthday. So instead of talking about a tv show, today I want to talk about a movie! Because, of course I need to tell you all about my thoughts on this movie. So let’s dive in!
Paul Atreides unites with Chani and the Fremen while seeking revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family.
Dune Part Two picks right up where Dune Part One ended. The movie is 2 hours and 46 minutes long, so it’s a long one! We went to a movie theater that has reclining chairs so we had a great experience watching this movie. The chairs were super comfortable and you have a lot of room. I personally loved not having any people super close to me haha.
And talking about the experience, this was truly a movie you should experience in the movie theater. To me a big part of the movie was the music and experiencing that at home simply hits different. Also, the cinematography is incredible and while you may have a big tv at home, it’s not the same as the screen in the movie theater ;). I am so happy I didn’t wait to watch this at home and would go again in a heartbeat!
Like I said, the movie picks up right where the first part stopped. I’m happy I rewatched the first movie right before going to this one. All of the details were still fresh in my mind and I knew exactly who was who and what was going on. Or at least, I knew as best as one can with a movie like this haha. I really enjoyed the story in this second part and would love to reread the book soon.
The first part of the movie might be called a bit slower, but there was still a lot going on and I thought it was really enjoyable. Paul lives with the Fremen and really starts to adapt to their ways. It’s something I personally always enjoy reading and watching, you learn so much about the culture and the characters. The next part of the movie had a lot of action going on, something else I really enjoyed. I loved the fight scenes and all the politics.
We are introduced to a couple of new characters and they were very interesting. I won’t say I loved all of them but I did enjoy watching their stories play out. There are also some cool plot twists and since I read the book about 8 years ago I was definitely surprised by some of them! Another thing I loved was the social commentary. The book was written in 1965 but the story has some comments that made me think about our society for sure.
Overall, I would highly recommend seeing this movie! And if you’re able to, please go see it in the theater because that experience is wonderful. Have you seen this movie yet? Or the first part? And have you read the book? I would love to hear your thoughts!
