5 On My TBR| Historical Fiction

As I’ve mentioned before, one of my important reading goals of 2023 is shrinking my physical TBR. Sometimes it’s hard to think of what books I still have or subjects I want to read about. So we needed a way to keep track of this. 5 On My TBR is a way of keeping track. This is a meme hosted by E from Local Bee Hunter’s Nook. Every week there’s a different prompt for five on my TBR.

This week’s topic is historical. Okay, so historical fiction isn’t a genre I read a lot of, but I’m sure I have a few on my TBR. Let’s take a look!

Rebel Spy – Veronica Rossi

This story was inspired by the true spy that used the alias “355”. I personally don’t know much about that, but Rebel Spy sounds very interesting. I picked this one up for a readathon a couple of years ago, but never got around to reading it.

My Imaginary Mary – Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton & Jodi Meadows

My Imaginary Mary is the next historical fantasy retelling by these three amazing authors. I loved there first trilogy and the first book in this trilogy, My Contrary Mary. These authors give history a twist and make it fantastical and funny.

The Guinevere Deception – Kiersten White

The Guinevere Deception is another fantastical historical fiction set in the world of Camelot. This is the first book in a trilogy and I’m excited to see what this author does with the re-imagning of the Arthurian Legend.

The Four Winds – Kristin Hannah

Kristin Hannah is an author that writes amazing historical fiction from what I’ve heard. The Four Winds is one that I bought for a group read, but as usual, I ended up getting distracted. This sounds like an emotional read, but one I’ll probably love.

Dead Dead Girls – Nekesa Afia

Dead Dead Girls is a historical fiction mystery that takes place in Harlem, 1926. I’ve had this book on my shelves since it released in 2021. A sequel released in 2022 and I see that a third book in the series is set to release this year.

So here are five historical fiction books on my shelves that I really want to read. Have you read any of these? Or do you have any recommendations? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear from you.
