We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s topic is Titles with Things Found in Nature. I always enjoy these kind of topics even though they are really random. As always I try to stick to books I actually have on my shelves, so let’s see if I can find 10 books I own that have titles that are nature related. Let’s jump in!
1. The Hill We Climb – Amanda Gorman
I loved Amanda Gorman’s inaugural poem and bought this printed version as soon as it released. Hills are part of nature right? So I think it fits the prompt very well haha. And with my renewed interest in poetry I’m really happy to give this one another shout out!
2. Rule of Wolves – Leigh Bardugo
Wolves are definitely part of nature and I also feel like the whole Grishaverse just fits with the nature theme of this prompt. I adore this world, this duology and this book in particular. The characters have a special place in my heart and just thinking about it all makes me want to reread these books.
3. Blackbird – Sam Humphries
I still feel cheated by the fact that this is a standalone story. The end truly felt like the beginning of the actual story so I’m not satisfied at all. And I would’ve loved to see more of the absolutely gorgeous artstyle.
4. The Poppy War – R.F. Kuang
This might be cheating a little but I think it counts either way. Poppy flowers are my absolute favorite flowers ever so I had to include this one. And I think the poppy in the title might be referring to something else, or at the least it means something negative. But whenever I see the word poppy I think of my favorite flower!
5. Snow Like Ashes – Sara Raasch
Another one with a nature related title but also an overall theme that fits with nature. The magic system in this world is based in nature so I think this is a perfect pick for this list. I really enjoyed this series but was a little bit disappointed by the ending.
6. Call Down the Hawk – Maggie Stiefvater
I stilllll have to read this one! It’s so embarrassing haha. I adore the original series, love the characters and I’m still very much interested in the story. If I mention this book often enough, I might just pick it up this year haha.
7. The Merciful Crow – Margaret Owen
More birds! Another one I still want to read. Although I’m not reading that much YA anymore so it might take me a while before I get to this one honestly. Would love to hear if you think this one it worth it!
8. The Lying Woods – Ashley Elston
I got this one last year in New York and definitely plan on reading it. So far I really liked all the Ashley Elston books I read so I’m excited for this one. It’s not a big one so I could potentially read it pretty fast.
9. Flame in the Mist – Renée Ahdieh
Mist is part of nature right? I’ve had this one for so long haha. Renée Ahdieh writes amazing books but I still haven’t picked this one up. Maybe it’s because of the reviews, maybe I’m just less interested in this story. But I do still want to give it a try.
10. Black-Eyed Susans – Julia Heaberlin
I’ll admit I had to google black-eyed susans haha. While I did think they were flowers, I just wasn’t sure haha. But I guess they are! This is a mystery and I have no clue what it’s about to be honest. At some point I do want to read it but it’s not a priority.
This were 10 books with titles that have things found in nature! What a way to describe the list haha. Have you read any of these? Did you enjoy them? Let me know in the comments!
I haven’t read it, but the cover for The Merciful Crow looks really cool
You’ve found some beautiful books to share!
