Down the TBR Hole #121

We’re starting with the same amount of books on my want to read shelf as last time, but as long as I haven’t added any new books I’m happy!

Down the TBR Hole was originally created over at Lost in a Story. This meme is now being hosted by Jody from I’m Into Books. It looked like a fun and productive way to finally make a dent in that Goodreads TBR. I went through my want-to-read shelf a little while ago but I think I was still to kind on a lot of books. Let’s see what I’ll make of it this time around. I decided to go with 10 books at a time so lets get started!

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 or 15 or 20, if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?
  • Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!

Current “to-read” shelf: 762 (my last post ended at 762. So the same as last time.)

This Time Tomorrow – Emma Straub

I’m a fan of books where characters wake up and our back in their past. The question if you’d change anything in your life if you were given the chance is one I’m sure a lot of people think about. I definitely still want to read This Time Tomorrow.

Keep

A Cat Cafe Christmas – Codi Gray

As a fan of cats and Christmas, I think it’s easy to figure out why I added this book to my want to read shelf. For some reason I saved the audiobook version though. I love tracking my pages read instead of hours listened, so I’m going to take this off of my shelf. I need to read this opposites attract Christmas romance.

Remove

Vinyl Resting Place – Olivia Blacke

So I actually own two other cozy mysteries written by this author and I actually have an eARC of Vinyl Resting Place. It’s been awhile since I’ve read a cozy mystery and that needs to change soon. This one still sounds like something I’d enjoy.

Keep

The Beach Trap – Ali Brady

The Beach Trap is a book I remember seeing everywhere when it released in 2022. Even though I still think I would love this book, I don’t own The Beach Trap and honestly don’t know if/when I’ll pick it up. So for now, I’m removing this one from my want to read shelf.

Remove

More Than You’ll Ever Know – Katie Gutierrez

A true crime writer wants to know more about the woman who was married to two men and when one found out, he shot the other. I have a feeling there’s more to this whole story and I love the fact that a true crime writer is a character in this story.

Keep

Ordinary Monsters – J.M. Miro

I honestly don’t know much about Ordinary Monsters, but it’s a book I’ve been curious about. I remember reading some really positive reviews when it released. Ordinary Monsters is almost 700 pages, so I think that’s one of the reasons why I haven’t picked it up yet. 2024 is supposed to be the year of big books for me, so I’m adding this to that TBR.

Keep

Thoughtless – S.C. Stephens

Okay, I don’t remember Thoughtless or adding it to my want to read shelf. That being said, I think that’s a sign that I will be removing it from Goodreads.

Remove

The Best Bad Things – Jay Crownover

The Best Bad Things is a book that caught my attention for its cover alone. After reading the synopsis, I’m definitely still intrigued. It seems to me that this will be a book that will leave me wondering what’s going on until the end.

Keep

Someone Else’s Shadow – Monica James

Another book I forgot about, but I do remember this cover. Someone Else’s Shadow is another case of the cover caught my eye before I knew what the story was about. Just like I mentioned earlier in this post about another book, it’s interesting when characters wake up one morning and either don’t remember anything or wake up in a different case. This book has the first scenario. I need to get to this one.

Keep

Sweet Dandelion – Micalea Smeltzer

After reading The Confidence of Wildflowers last year, I’ve decided that I want to read everything written by this author. Sweet Dandelion is going to be a very emotional read, but it definitely has caught my eye. I think this will be the next book I pick up by Micalea Smeltzer.

Removal Percentage: 30%
Current “to-read” shelf: 759

That’s a wrap on another Down the TBR Hole. I didn’t remove many books this week, but I was definitely reminded of a few I need to read soon. Have you read any of these? Which book should I pick up first? Let me know in the comments!
