Bookish Item | The Big Books of 2024 According to Goodreads Part 1

I came across a list on Goodreads about the big books for 2024. Apparently these are the books that have been added the most. I thought it would be fun to take a look at some of the categories and see if I’m interested in them. This will be a multiple parter because there are like 64 books on the whole list haha.

Fantasy

The Atlas Complex – Olivie Blake

I still need to read The Atlas Six so while it’s nice to know the whole trilogy is out now, I don’t really care about this release to be honest. Maybe I will once I finally read The Atlas Six but for now I guess I’m just happy for the fans ;).

The Tainted Cup – Robert Jackson Bennett

This is a release I’m excited about! I have an eARC I want to start really soon and I hope it’s as good as I think it will be. Can’t wait to try a Robert Jackson Bennett book.

The Book of Love – Kelly Link

I haven’t read anything by this author yet and I hadn’t heard of this book before. But the premise sounds really intriguing so I am adding it to my list!

The Book of Doors – Gareth Brown

This is a debut novel and another one I hadn’t heard about yet. I like the sound of it though! A book that makes it so that any door you use can be a door to anywhere, where can I get one? Added this one to the list as well!

The Warm Hands of Ghosts – Katherine Arden

I loved Katherine Arden’s MG novels but I haven’t read any of her adult work yet. This might be the one I have to pick up first! It’s historical fiction with a speculative twist, set mostly in Belgium during World War I. Definitely one I’m adding to my list.

The Familiar – Leigh Bardugo

This one was already on my radar! One of my most anticipated releases of the year. I love Leigh Bardugo’s work and I’m excited to see what she does in this historical setting.

Somewhere Beyond the Sea – T.J. Klune

I really loved The House in the Cerulean Sea and I’m curious about this sequel. The characters were wonderful and I’m excited to see how they are doing.

Romantasy

House of Flame and Shadow – Sarah J. Maas

My most anticipated release of the year! I can’t wait for this to be released on Tuesday. The cliffhanger of book 2 was absolute killer and I can’t wait to see which of the 1000 theories I read on TikTok was correct haha.

A Fate Inked in Blood – Danielle L. Jensen

I believe Candyce has an eARC of this one, so I’m going to wait and see what she the inks before deciding on this one. Romantasy isn’t necessarily my genre, but it all depends on the book haha.

Lore of the Wilds – Analeigh Sbrana

This is a debut and has an enchanted library and Fae. It sounds like an intriguing read for sure! I’ve seen some positive early reviews and have added it to my list!

Bloodguard – Cecy Robson

I’ll admit, this cover makes me want to preorder this so badly! Like, without even knowing what this is about, I want that cover on my shelves. The synopsis doesn’t give me much, all I know it’s about gladiators haha.

A Touch of Chaos – Scarlett St. Clair

This is book 4 in the Hades x Persephone Saga. It sounds intriguing for sure but I’ll have to start with the first book so this one won’t be on my list for now!

These are the ‘big books’ of 2024 in the fantasy and romantasy categories. I’ll be looking at two other categories for the next post. Are you excited for these releases? Let me know in the comments!
