As I’ve mentioned before, one of my important reading goals of 2023 is shrinking my physical TBR. Sometimes it’s hard to think of what books I still have or subjects I want to read about. So we needed a way to keep track of this. 5 On My TBR is a way of keeping track. This is a meme hosted by E from Local Bee Hunter’s Nook. Every week there’s a different prompt for five on my TBR.
This week’s topic is speculative. I had to look it up to be sure, but speculative seems to be science fiction, fantasy and horror. So I have a lot of books to pick from haha. I tried to pick 5 books I haven’t talked about that much lately. Let’s dive in!
1. Ink and Bone – Rachel Caine
This one has been on my TBR for a while now! It’s a series about the Great Library of Alexandria and that’s all I needed to know. There’s alchemy, a big brother like government and a teenager becoming a spy.
2. The Fifth Season – N.K. Jemisin
There’s a couple of authors I really want to read from and N.K. Jemisin is high on that list. I’m pretty sad I still haven’t read this one. This book sounds really good and reviewers I trust love it a lot. So I have high hopes!
3. Sleeping Giants – Sylvain Neuvel
I have read one book by Sylvain Neuvel and I loved it a lot. This has been on my TBR for way too long. I need to read more sci-fi books and this seems like a really cool one. Maybe I’ll get the audiobook!
4. Heartless – Marissa Meyer
I really liked the Marissa Meyer books I’ve read so far and I love the premise of this standalone book. It’s the story of the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland before she became the Queen of Hearts. And I love me a good villain prequel story so I hope to read this soon!
5. Shadow Run – Adrianne Strickland & Michael Miller
I always say I want to read more sci-fi and I really mean it haha. But I have a couple of great sci-fi books on my TBR and I have yet to pick them up. This is one I have been wanting to read for so long and have heard great things about.
These are 5 speculative books I have on my TBR. I haven’t talked about these for a while I think but I would love to read all of these. Have you read any of these? Which one should I pick up first? Let me know in the comments!
