Show Sunday | Favorite TV Shows of 2023

My first favorites list of 2023 things! I’m kicking things off with my favorite TV shows I watched in 2023. Like with reading, I haven’t watched as many shows as I usually do so I thought this would be an easier list to make haha. Turns out I watched more than I remembered and it was a lot harder to narrow down than I hoped haha. Anyways, let’s jump in and see what I made of it!

10. Based on a True Story

This was a really fun show! I love true crime podcasts so having a show about a true crime podcast will always have my attention. This one was both dark and hilarious. I love Kaley Cuoco and thought all the actors did a great job. We’re getting a second season and I can’t wait to dive in!

9. Never Have I Ever

We got the fourth and final season this year and it was really bittersweet. While I’m sad there won’t be anymore seasons, I do think it’s good they wrapped it all up and ended the show in a satisfying way. I loved seeing Devi grow throughout the seasons and just really enjoyed this show.

8. Nancy Drew

Another final season, probably not my favorite but since I do love this show overall it still ended up in the number 8 spot. Some of the story felt a little bit rushed and I would’ve loved a couple more episodes just to give the story more time. And I just would’ve loved more seasons but that’s beside the point haha.

7. Will Trent

I love the Will Trent book series by Karin Slaughter so of course I had to check out this series. And it’s really fun! There are some key differences with the book series (and some do really bug me) but I think the vibe is similar. I really enjoy the show and will try to see it as a separate thing. The second season will start at the end of February!

6. Jury Duty

It’s almost impossible to have missed this show but I have to say, the hype didn’t oversell anything for me. I thought the premise was super interesting, a guy thinks he has jury duty but everyone is an actor and it’s all scripted, but I loved the interactions and that why I stayed. Ronald is such a great guy and I loved seeing him deal with all the shenanigans.

5. XO, Kitty

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is one of my favorite book series and I adore the movies, so I was really curious about XO, Kitty. And wow it did not disappoint! I wasn’t sure what to expect but I loved it a lot. Yes there were some predictable moments but I loved the characters and was really invested in the story. I can’t wait for the second season!

4. Shadow and Bone

I’m so bitter that this show has been canceled, I can’t even begin to explain it. This show was incredibly well done and I loved seeing my favorite characters come to life on the screen. But we never got to my favorite part as the Crows weren’t even really the Crows yet. We also got a little hint to King of Scars and I wish, wish, wish we were getting more seasons. This show is absolutely amazing, the visuals are stunning and I still have a little hope it will get picked up again.

3. Criminal Minds

Criminal Minds has always been one of my favorite shows so it being revived was absolutely amazing. Last year it topped my favorite tv shows list and I’m happy to say it’s still high up there. We got the last couple of episodes in 2023 and I loved them so much! I’m really happy we’re getting another season and I hope we won’t have to wait to long. This show remains amazing and I love these characters so much.

2. Loki

Perfection. Especially that final episode. I keep thinking about this second season, I loved it so so much. While I do think the show wrapped up great, I am sad that we’re not getting more seasons. Loki is my favorite part of the MCU and I’m just less excited about any new release now that there is no chance of more Loki.

1. Daisy Jones and the Six

With so many great shows this year it was hard to pick a favorite but I just had to go with Daisy Jones and the Six. I loved the book (and listened to the audiobook twice in like a week because of this show) and I think this adaptation was amazing. Yes, there were some things I would’ve liked to see differently (like more sex, drugs and rock’n’roll and that Daisy/Billy scene was already perfect in the book but okay) but overall it was perfect. I loved hearing all the songs and my Spotify Wrapped was filled with Daisy Jones and the Six haha. It’s a show I will definitely watch again and again and will recommend to everyone.

I tried to make an actual ranking again but it was really difficult! Narrowing it down to 10 was already hard and than deciding which show got which spot…. If I had to do it again I might switch it up a little haha, especially those top 5/6 spots were incredibly difficult. But I do think I’m pretty happy with the end result of this list! What do you think of my list? Did you watch any of these shows? Are you missing any? Let me know in the comments!
