December tends to be our biggest bookhauls, so it’ll be interesting to see if that’s the case again in 2023! We can’t believe this is our final bookhaul of the year. It’s been a great bookish year and hopefully 2024 is the same! Keep on reading for our December bookhaul.
Candyce
December was once again a crazy month for me when it comes to the amount of books I added to my shelves. I’m very grateful my mother and boyfriend understand my love of books and support that. So I added 31 books to my shelves in December. Out of those 31, I only bought 8 myself and two of them were Fairyloot books.
The Scarlet Alchemist – Kylie Lee Baker
The Scarlet Alchemist is November’s Fairyloot YA book and it arrived early December. I love this edition! All I know is there going to be a lot of politics surrounding a royal family. It seems our main character makes alchemical gold and gems. The wealthy eat these to stay young forever. Definitely an interesting concept.
My Dark Romeo -Parker S. Huntington & L.J. Shen
If I’m honest, My Dark Romeo is definitely a cover buy (or gift on this occasion). My Dark Romeo is a dark romance with a marriage of inconvenience in this case, haha. I’ve heard some great things about this story. Now I can finally read it myself.
Final Offer – Lauren Asher
Final Offer is the final book in the Dreamland Billionaire series. I loved this first book and I’ve enjoyed what I’ve read from Terms and Conditions so far. I’m not sure what the trope is in Final Offer, but I can’t wait to find out.
Cat + Gamer Vol. 3 -Wataru Nadatani
I loved the first two volumes of Cat + Gamer when I got them earlier in the year. It’s a really sweet manga about a woman who is learning to take care of a cat and who is a gamer of course. We also get the cat’s POV and it’s just so adorable.
Never – Jessa Hastings
So I still haven’t read Magnolia Parks by this author yet, but her new book Never sounds really good. I love that this is a Peter Pan re-imagining instead of a retelling. I’ve seen some mixed reviews, but the cover is stunning.
The Kingdom of Sweets – Erika Johansen
The Kingdom of Sweets is a dark Nutcracker retelling. I actually bought this, because I went to see The Nutcracker in December. It sounded like fun to read this the week before going, but getting sick changed my plans. I still plan on reading The Kingdom of Sweets this winter.
Golden Son – Pierce Brown
Red Rising is a book I read in September and enjoyed it more than expected. Golden Son is the next book in the series and I need to know how Darrow’s story continues. There were quite a few twists in the first book, so it’ll be interesting to see if we get more.
Betting On You – Lynn Painter
Lynn Painter has been an auto-buy/read author for me since I read Better Than the Movies. Betting On You sounds like it’s going to be another cute contemporary. I love books like that, because they’re fast reads and tend to have me smiling while reading.
King of Pride – Ana Huang
After really loving the first book in the Twisted Love series, I started collecting books by this author. King of Pride is the second book in her Kings of Sin series. I want to finish Twisted Love before starting this series.
What the River Knows – Isabel Ibanez
What the River Knows is Fairyloot’s December book and I love the cover they did for this one. I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about this historical fiction fantasy.
The Right Move & Caught Up – Liz Tomforde
I’m a big sports romance fan and I own the first book in this series, Mile High. This series got picked up by a publisher and I knew I needed to ask for books two and three for Christmas. I believe The Right Move is a fake dating romance. Those are my favorite.
Tonight, I Burn – Katharine J. Adams
Looking back at my reading in 2023, I’m actually surprised I didn’t read a lot of fantasy. Less than 50 books were fantasy reads. I want to change that again next year, because it is a genre I love. Tonight, I Burn is one I plan one of the books I plan on changing this situation with. I have a feeling Tonight, I Burn will have a lot of twists and turns.
Fly with Me – Andie Burke
Fly with Me is a fake dating romance with a stunning cover! Both of our main characters need this relationship to benefit them in some way or another. We all know they’re going to catch feelings and that’s what I love.
None Shall Sleep – Ellie Marney
None Shall Sleep is a book I’ve been wanting to read for awhile. Two teenagers team up with the FBI to track down juvenile serial killers. This kind of reminds me a bit of Criminal Minds which I loved.
By Any Other Name – Lauren Kate
If I know a book is about books in any way, I need to have it. By Any Other Name is an enemies to lovers romance between an editor and her bestselling author. That’s all I need to know!
Finlay Donovan Knocks ‘Em Dead – Elle Cosimano
Finlay Donovan Is Killing It was such a fun and entertaining read and I’m surprised I haven’t continued with the series. The fourth book is releasing next month, so I need to catch up. These books are a bit over the top, but that makes them fun.
Heartless, Powerless & Reckless – Elsie Silver
I read Flawless in October and after that I knew I needed the rest of the Chestnut Springs series. I got the next three for Christmas and only have one more to get before the series is complete. I’m excited to continue.
A Light in the Flame – Jennifer L. Armentrout
Even though I’m behind with this series, Jennifer L. Armentrout is one of my favorite authors. It’s my goal to catch up with this series in 2024. The books are huge, so it’s going to be quite the challenge. Well, not if I love the books. Then I can’t get enough.
Maybe Meant to Be – K.L. Walther
By the looks of it Maybe Meant to Be is a book that’s being published again after being released in 2020. I got two books by this author during the summer and they all seem like contemporary stories that I’ll love.
The Hurricane Wars – Thea Guanzon
The Hurricane Wars is a new fantasy release everyone seems to be loving and it has a stunning cover! It’s time for me to see what it’s all about. I actually plan on reading this one in January.
Love Redesigned – Lauren Asher
After completing the Dreamland Billionaire series, Lauren Asher wrote the first book in her next billionaire romance series. Love Redesigned is that book. It seems to be a childhood rivals romance. Those are always interesting.
Saving 6 & Redeeming 6 – Chloe Walsh
Binding 13 and Keeping 13 are two books I saw everywhere in 2023. I got them when they released and Saving 6 & Redeeming 6 are about the next couple in this series. I have a feeling I’m going to love these books, so I added them to my wishlist. These books are huge though, so they’ll definitely count towards my big book goal in 2024.
Check & Mate – Ali Hazelwood
I’ve loved all of Ali Hazelwood’s adult romances, so I was really excited when she announced her first YA book. Since it released, I’ve heard great things about Check & Mate. This book may just be one of my first reads of the year.
The Fragile Threads of Power – V.E. Schwab
In 2023, I devoured the Darker Shades of Magic trilogy! The characters and world were so interesting, so I’m excited with The Fragile Threads of Power we get to visit there again. I’m actually surprised I haven’t read this one yet.
The Woman in the Library – Sulari Gentill
The Woman in the Library wasn’t one I planned on getting, but after hearing a booktuber talk about it, it sounded like a book I need to read. It takes place in a library, so what more could I want?
Illustrated Editions of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban & Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire – J.K. Rowling
These two illustrated editions were actually a complete surprise. I already own the first two, but haven’t added any to my wishlist, because they’re pretty expensive. The boyfriend found them on sale and decided to surprise me which was really sweet. The illustrations are stunning!
Isabelle
A pretty sad end of the year bookhaul from me haha. I didn’t get any books for Christmas and I didn’t get myself any books this month either. Usually I do have at least an audiobook purchase through Audible but I still have 2 credits to use. I just don’t know what book to get. The one book I wanted to get wasn’t available in my region unfortunately. So zero new books this month!
So here’s our final bookhaul of 2023! Candyce has a bit more work ahead of her to tackle the books she got this month, haha. Have you read any of these? Or what books did you add to your shelves this month? Let us know in the comments! We’d love to hear from you.
