Looking Back at Our Bookhauls| October 2022

Now that we’ve talked about what we read and added to our shelves in October, it’s time to look back at last year. Have we read the books we got in October 2022? Keep on reading to find out in this month’s Looking Back at Our Bookhauls.

Candyce

Last October I added 8 new books to my shelves and I had already read 3 when this bookhaul was posted. So let’s see if I’ve read more since then!

It Starts with Us – Colleen Hoover
Read

Like I said in the bookhaul, I actually read this one the same week I got it! While I’m glad we got more about Lily and Atlas some things were missing for me. I’m glad I read It Starts with Us though.

What Lies Beyond the Veil – Harper L. Woods
Read

I loved this fantasy romance and read it within a few days of it being delivered. In the post of our haul, I said I’d be reading the sequel the next week, but that didn’t happen. All four books are actually out now, so I think that’s a sign I need to finish this series.

See You Yesterday – Rachel Lynn Solomon
Unread

See You Yesterday is a book I’m actually surprised I haven’t read yet. Rachel Lynn Solomon has become a favorite author of mine and I loved Groundhog Day stories. So hopefully I’ll actually read it before the end of the year this time!

The First to Die at the End – Adam Silvera
Read

They Both Die at the End was an amazing, but emotional book. It really hit with a punch even though the title says it all! The First to Die at the End was just as an emotional read that I just couldn’t put down. I plan on rereading both books next year.

Love in the Time of Serial Killers – Alicia Thompson
Read

I loved the title of Love in the Time of Serial Killers. This was a very fast and fun read, but I do wish that the serial killers aspect was more part of this book. It was over pretty quickly, but after reading the synopsis I was expecting more of it in the story.

Komi Can’t Communicate Vol. 1-3 – Tomohito Oda
Read

Like I said last year, I enjoyed the episodes of the anime that I had watched with my boyfriend, so I wanted to give this one a try. I loved the first three volumes and you just want to hug Komi as she’s trying to make new friends. I have two more volumes that I still need to read.

End Result:
Read: 7/8 – 87.5%
TBR: 1/8 – 12.5%

I had a pretty big bookhaul last year! Only two physical books, but also eight audiobooks because of good deals during a sale. I was a bit scared to see how many I read and I definitely have a couple I need to pick up soon. Let’s take a look.

The Atlas Six – Olivie Blake
Unread

I have been planning on reading this one for a year now haha. There was so much hype around this book and I really want to see what I think of the story. It also sounds like something I would really enjoy. Hopefully I can read this one before the end of the year.

When Women Were Dragons – Kelly Barnhill
Unread

I haven’t heard anyone talk about this one but I do think I might like it. So far I haven’t had the urge to start reading it yet unfortunately. I think I need to be in a calmer mind set to finally pick up books I haven’t read yet or books about worlds I don’t know yet.

Audible

Pieces of Her – Karin Slaughter
Read

This one I have read! Last year I started to catch up on all the Karin Slaughter books I hadn’t read yet and it was wonderful. I think I still have two books to go now, hopefully I can read at least one of those before the end of the year.

Before the Devil Breaks You – Libba Bray
Read

This series was amazing and I’m so glad I have finally finished it. I still can’t believe it took me that long to start the series. It was truly wonderful and I would love recommendations for books like it.

The Priory of the Orange Tree – Samantha Shannon
Unread

This is such a huge book and I hoped getting the audiobook would help me get through it quicker. But so far no luck haha. I have been looking at it more and more lately so who knows, I might just start this one soon.

The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle – Stuart Turton
Unread

I wasn’t sure how to classify this one. In the end I went with unread since I haven’t listened to the audiobook and I did get it after already reading the physical book. I hope to reread it as I loved it a lot.

Eight Perfect Murders – Peter Swanson
Read

This one I had been wanting to read for a while and I listened to the audiobook pretty soon after getting it. It was a fun mystery that I enjoyed but it wasn’t anything great or all too memorable.

The Three-Body Problem – Cixin Liu
Unread

This one I really want to read, it’s also becoming a tv show pretty soon. It has reviews all over the spectrum but it does seem to be pretty highly rated. I think the synopsis sounds super interesting and I can’t wait to dive into this story.

The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August – Claire North
Unread

I had hoped to have read this one by now, as I really like stories like this. We see Harry repeating his life over and over again and I can’t wait to find out what happens when something finally changes.

The Good Daughter – Karin Slaughter
Read

This was another one I read as part of my catch up of all things Karin Slaughter. I love her books so much. They’re really dark but always have a good mystery and I like the dynamics between the characters.

End Result:
Read: 4/10 – 40%
TBR: 6/10 – 60%

That’s our looking back at our bookhaul this month! Have you read any of these? What did you think? Let us know in the comments! We’d love to hear from you!
