Once again I’m starting off this Down the TBR Hole post with the same amount of books on my want to read shelf as at the end of my last post.
Down the TBR Hole was originally created over at Lost in a Story. This meme is now being hosted by Jody from I’m Into Books. It looked like a fun and productive way to finally make a dent in that Goodreads TBR. I went through my want-to-read shelf a little while ago but I think I was still to kind on a lot of books. Let’s see what I’ll make of it this time around. I decided to go with 10 books at a time so lets get started!
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 or 15 or 20, if you’re feeling adventurous) books
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
- Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!
Current “to-read” shelf: 804 (my last post ended at 804. So that’s same amount as last time.)
Eight Winter Nights – Liz Maverick
I love holiday novellas and Eight Winter Nights does sound like one I would love. At the moment this one is only available as an audiobook and with it being less than 3 hours, I kind of don’t want to spend a credit on it. So for now I’m taking it off of my shelf. I hope we get an ebook version of this one eventually.

The Dead Romantics – Ashley Poston
The Dead Romantics is actually I book I’ve already read and loved! Unfortunately, Goodreads still shelves the different editions separately. So I will be taking this one off of my shelf, but I highly recommend this book. Keep the tissues ready, because it gets emotional.
Remove
Bad Luck Bridesmaid – Alison Rose Greenburg
I remember adding Bad Luck Bridesmaid to my want to read shelf, but I’m honestly not sure if I ever read the synopsis. Bad Luck Bridesmaid released almost two years ago and I haven’t heard many people talk about it. So I decided to read some reviews and a lot say that this is mostly our main character deciding how she feels about marriage. For some reason, I just don’t think this is the book for me.

First Lie Wins – Ashley Elston
First Lie Wins is the first 2024 release I’ve stumbled upon on my want to read shelf. This thriller sounds like it’s going to be amazing, because our main character isn’t who she says she is. While working she has a different identity, but falling for the guy she’s keeping an eye on could get dangerous. I actually have an eARC of First Lie Wins and I’m excited to read it.

These Fleeting Shadows – Kate Alice Marshall
So horror isn’t really my go to genre, but I have been reading a few YA horrors lately and they have been pretty good. These Fleeting Shadows is about a character who inherits a family house if she lives there for a year. I seem to enjoy books that involve houses, so I want to give this a go.

Am I Allergic to Men? – Kristen Bailey
I should start off by saying that I added this to my want to read shelf based on the title alone, haha. Our main character wakes up and finds out she was in a coma. She’s also missing a decade of her memory. Am I Allergic to Men? sounds like a great book, but I don’t own it and I’m not sure if I will anytime soon.
Remove
Bloody Fool for Love: A Spike Novel – William Ritter
As a Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan, I had to add this one to my want to read shelf. Spike is a character I’ve always found interesting, so of course I have to read Bloody Fool for Love. I actually forgot about this one, but I’ll be adding it to my Christmas list.
Keep
The Girl in the Mist – Kristen Ashley
The Girl in the Mist is a book I should’ve read by now. I don’t read a lot of romantic suspense books, but this one sounds amazing. The main character is an author and a fan has gone over the edge and she needs to leave where she is. So she goes to a small town where a little girl has gone missing and a mysterious guy seems to be the only one up for the job. I need this book!
Keep
Be Kind, Rewind -Melissa Brown
Even though I was still really young in the 90s, I love reading books with pop culture references, etc. Be Kind, Rewind seems to be one of these books. This is also an enemies to lovers romance and those can be so much fun. For some reason I added a version without a cover to my want to read shelf, so I’ll be removing this one. I want to read this book though!
Remove
The Dragon’s Promise – Elizabeth Lim
I loved Six Crimson Cranes and I’m actually surprised I haven’t read The Dragon’s Promise yet. The UK covers for this duology is stunning and I can’t wait to see how Shiori’s story continues and how this duology wraps up.

I still can’t believe I have already done over 100 Down the TBR Hole posts. This week I finally got under 800 books on my want to read shelf!! We’re making progress. Have you read any of these? Would any of your choices be different than mine? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you.
