We thought it was time for a fun new post every week. In the Royal Update one of us updates you about our personal life, bookish news, what we’re reading, watching and listening to and anything else that might apply to this post. We thought it would be fun to share a bit more about our personal lives and hope you think so too!
As I said in my last Royal Update, my vacation was starting that week. I can’t believe this will already be my third week off of work. It’s really flying by, but we’ve been doing fun things. The boyfriend and I started off with a trip to Maastricht. It’s not close to us at all, so it was quite the trip. Unfortunately, the weather decided to really warm up when we went, but we did still have a lot of fun. We booked a beautiful suite (which had air-conditioning thankfully). While we were there we had a nice lunch and dinner, did some shopping, walked around, and went to the bookstore I was really excited about. That was rather disappointing unfortunately. The building was beautiful, but the book selection they had wasn’t all that great.
Then last week my mother and I had a mother/daughter getaway. We stayed the night at the beach. The weather was a little cooler, so that was really nice. It’s always great visiting the beach. We had lunch, checked in at our hotel, and then visited Madurodam. That’s a mini Holland basically. They’ve recreated buildings and famous locations. There was even a mini working highway and railroad tracks. You can see the scale a bit by looking at the people in the background. After that we enjoyed an amazing dinner and enjoyed the beach a bit more before relaxing at the hotel for the evening. The day after we went to a city close to where we leave where my boyfriend met us for a bit of shopping and we had dinner.
Last Saturday was our monthly game night. It was a smaller group this time and it was relaxing. We played a fun game and just chatted for awhile. This upcoming week we have a fun trip planned and will be seeing a stand up comedian on Thursday. I’m not excited about this being are last week though, haha.
Since my last Royal Update I added two eARCs to my Kindle that I’m really excited about: Faking Christmas and At First Spite.
Since my last Royal Update I finished reading: Text Appeal, Assistant to the Villain, Morbidly Yours, Sinful Enemy, Butcher & Blackbird, Beartown, Wotakoi Vol. 2, Things We Hide From the Light, Out On a Limb, We Can’t Keep Meeting Like This, and Ellie Engle Saves Herself.
I’m currently reading: The Way of Kings, Red Rising, The Reunion, and Little Creeping Things.
Next I plan on reading: The Block Party, Scareground, and None of This is True.
I actually have a cover reveal and a book announcement to share this week. This cover reveal actually has me really wanting to read The Prince & The Apocalypse soon.
It’s been ages, but I finally have something to share in this shop log. While out shopping last week I finally found a bag that I love. Instead of a shoulder bag, I decided to go back to a backpack. I love the colors!
I finally watched Red, White & Royal Blue. I really think they did a good job turning the book into a movie. There were a few elements I did miss in the movie, but all in all a great job. Watching the movie makes me want to reread the book in the near future.
I actually haven’t really been listening to anything these last two weeks. The boyfriend has had some playlists on while gaming, but I tend to zone out while reading, haha.
So that’s my Royal Update for this week! How have you been? Have you read or watched anything good recently? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear from you.
Vacation sounds like a great time! I loved the Red, White, and Royal Blue movie. Assistant to the Villain and Morbidly Yours are both on my Fall TBR.
