As I’ve mentioned before, one of my important reading goals of 2023 is shrinking my physical TBR. Sometimes it’s hard to think of what books I still have or subjects I want to read about. So we needed a way to keep track of this. 5 On My TBR is a way of keeping track. This is a meme hosted by E from Local Bee Hunter’s Nook. Every week there’s a different prompt for five on my TBR.
This week’s topic is Classics but that topic came up earlier this year as well. And since I already had trouble with it then, I would just list the same books this time around. So I decided to do a part 2 for last weeks topic; Best Friends. Let’s jump in!
1. Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow – Gabrielle Zevin
This book came to mind right away! I don’t know a lot about this one but I do know we get to read about two friends over a span of decades. And I believe they develop a game. I’ve heard amazing things about this one and I’m so excited to pick it up.
2. Bloodwitch – Susan Dennard
This series as a whole is about best friends so it was the perfect choice for this topic. I adored the first two books and I did read a bit of the third book. It’s such a shame I haven’t finished this one yet as the series is great. I hope to read this one soon!
3. A Girl Called Shameless – Laura Steven
I loved the friendship between Izzy and Ajita in The Exact Opposite of Okay so much and I think it will be even more prominent in this sequel. Laura writes wonderfully and I love her humour. I have another one of her books on my TBR and I can’t wait to dive in.
4. The Unexpected Everything – Morgan Matson
Whenever I thing of Morgan Matson books I think of friendship. While I’m not sure if friendship is actually the main focus in this one, it is mentioned in the synopsis. So I’m just going to assume it plays a pretty big role. I don’t think this will be one of the first ones I’ll pick up, but at some point I will!
5. Five Dark Fates – Kendare Blake
I don’t think anyone would pick this book for the Best Friends topic, but hear me out! Arsinoe and Jules are for sure best friends and I feel like Katherine would love to be best friends with both Arsinoe and Mirabella. Also, the perfect opportunity to once again remind myself I need to finally finish this book haha.
Five books featuring best friends! For most of these I’m actually really excited and would love to pick them up soon. Hopefully I can do just that in the coming months. Have you read any of these? Which one should I pick up first? Let me know in the comments!
