It’s Wednesday, so time for a new WWW Wednesday to talk about my reading progress and plans. I really love these posts and talking more about what I’m reading before the monthly wrap up. Even if my reading plans change I like thinking about what I’m going to read!
So it’s time for my next WWW Wednesday. This is a weekly meme hosted by Taking On a World of Words and you participate by simply answering three questions:
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What are you currently reading?
- What do you think you’ll read next?
At the moment I’m currently working on a 30 books in 30 days challenge, so I won’t be talking about all of my recent reads, haha. Also, I’m going away for a few days around the time this comes online, so I’m writing this post a little early. So there’s a big chance things have changed reading wise when this comes online.
What did you recently finish reading?
Beartown – Fredrik Backman
Beartown is a book I’ve seen everywhere and even more so when the third book in the trilogy was released last year. It sounded like an interesting story and I’m so glad I decided to finally pick it up even if it also made me very angry. My full review will be posted on Saturday, but Fredrik Backman knows how to write a book! I’ll be reading more if his backlist.
Morbidly Yours – Ivy Fairbanks
I never expected to read a romance about an undertaker and animator, but Morbidly Yours was so good. It’s so much more than a romance, but also deals with grief, love, family, and so much more. Lark and Callum were both such interesting characters and I was sad when I read the final page of this book.
Text Appeal – Amber Roberts
Text Appeal was a book I was really excited about. Lark is a programmer, but something causes her to lose her job. Her friend suggests sexting to make money until she finds a job. One of her clients catches her attention, but she’s also getting close to her best friend. Unfortunately, this book just didn’t work for me. Lark annoyed me a lot during this story and it took quite some time before we really got into the story.
What are you currently reading?
The Way of Kings – Brandon Sanderson
My in person book club had six weeks between meetings this time, so everyone suggested bigger books. What I wasn’t expecting was a 1000+ page book to win, haha. I’ve enjoyed books by Brandon Sanderson and this one did sound really interesting. So far I’m enjoying the story and I can’t wait to see how it plays out and learn more about this magic system.
Butcher & Blackbird – Brynne Weaver
Butcher & Blackbird is a dark romantic comedy and I can’t honestly say I’ve never read anything like it. Our main characters are serial killers that hunt other serial killers. They decide to make things more fun and have a competition every year. Of course, a friendship develops, but I’m waiting for more of course. I have no clue how this is all going to end, haha.
Things We Hide From the Light – Lucy Score
Most people have probably seen this series somewhere in the bookish community. After loving Things We Never Got Over, I decided it was time to start Things We Hide From the Light with the release of the third and final book in the trilogy. I’m loving Nash and Lina and I’m sad I’m almost done with their story.
What do you think you’ll read next?
The Reunion – Kit Frick
The Reunion is a YA thriller that just released at the end of August that I have an eARC of. A doomed family reunion in Cancun takes a deadly turn. I have a feeling this is also filled with a lot of family secrets. We’re heading towards the end of summer and I think it’s the perfect time to read this thriller.
The Hexologists – Josiah Bancroft
The Hexologists is a September release that I’m really excited I got an eARC for. Basically we have a married couple who solve magical mysteries together. I’m not sure how lighthearted/funny it’s going to be, but it sounds like so much fun.
The Love Wager – Lynn Painter
The Love Wager is the second book in the Mr. Wrong Number series and I’m shocked I still haven’t read this one yet. I loved Mr. Wrong Number and also every book I’ve read by Lynn Painter so far. Our two main characters help each other on their dating journey and we all know they’re going to end up together.
So that’s my WWW Wednesday for this week! What have you been reading and loving lately? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you.
Wow, so many great reads on this post. A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman is my favorite book by him. I highly recommend if you haven’t read it yet. The Love Wager was a very fun read, I hope you love it. Happy reading!
Ohh I didn’t know there’s a book to A Man Called Otto! I only watched the movie and it really surprised me in a positive way. Suppose I have to look it up!
