TTT #306 | Favorite Female Friendships

We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Favorite Character Relationships. These can be all kinds of relationships, but as my favorite kind is female friendships I’m trying to stick to those. Let’s jump in!

1. Manon & the Thirteen
Throne of Glass

After my Throne of Glass reread I couldn’t not choose Manon and her Thirteen. They quickly became some of my favorite characters in this world and their chapters definitely hit me the hardest. I love how they start to stand up for each other and go agains all that they’ve learned all of their life.

2. Inej & Nina
Six of Crows

Overall this is a favorite book of mine and a big part of that are all the friendships. I love the dynamic between all the Crows but wanted to highlight Inej and Nina. There is a lot of fighting and scheming but the interactions Inej and Nina have also bring another layer to the story. It’s nice to see their softer side and them not being criminals for a bit. I would love a novella about these two!

3. Safiya & Iseult
The Witchlands

The reason I picked this book up was because of the friendship between Safiya and Iseult. Their friendship sits at the core of the story and is written really well. I really need to get back to this series as I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

4. El & Aadhya (& Liu)
The Scholomance

I adore this series and these characters. El starts off as a bit of a lonely character but she slowly develops a friendship with two of her classmates. And it was beautiful to see that grow and see all three of them grow themselves as well. These friends are very supportive and I loved reading about them.

5. Julie & Maddie
Code Name Verity

Just thinking about this book and this friendships brings tears to my eyes. I loved this book so much but it also shattered my heart. It was so hard to read this as I got closer to the end, I didn’t want to believe what was happening and I haven’t been able to reread the story. Maybe I should reread and see how it all hits nows.

6. Arsinoe & Jules
Three Dark Crowns

I love the Three Dark Crowns series so much (although I STILL haven’t finished reading the last book!!). Arsinoe is probably my favorite Queen and I loved reading her chapters. Jules is a big part of her chapters and I loved their friendship. You could also see them as siblings because of how they grew up but I’m still counting it as a friendship ;).

7. Ky & Tabby
Hometown Antihero

This series doesn’t get nearly enough attention! I loved this so so much and I really liked the friendship between Ky and Tabby. Ky has a certain reputation at school and Tabby as the new girl decides to trust herself instead of the school gossip. And I loved that a lot!

8. Bryce & Danika
Crescent City

I had to mention Bryce and Danika! Their friendship was wonderful to read about, even though it turned out not everything was as great as we thought. It made it more real for me and showed a friendship between two flawed girls. This friendship was another one that shattered me and I can’t wait for that third book!

9. Izzy & Ajita
The Exact Opposite of Okay

I’ve told you all how much I love this book over and over again. But I don’t think I’ve talked about Izzy and Ajita’s friendship enough. They have a very supportive relationship but we also get to see what happens when they have a minor fall out. It was great to see that play out and see how they tried to resolve it.

10. Feyre & Mor & Amren
A Court of Thorns and Roses

With my current reread I just had to mention these three ladies. Feyre really annoyed me at times in the first two books (especially in the first book!) but my love for these characters remains strong. And the female friendship in this series (there is another one I might love even more in the latest book) is a big part of it. I love how especially Mor is there for Feyre and helps her heal but I also love how Amren pulls no punches!

These are 10 female friendships I loved reading about. I could reread all of these books after talking about them. If you want me to read a book, just tell me there’s a great female friendship in it haha. What are some of your favorite friendships? Let me know in the comments!
