Looking Back At Our Bookhauls | August 2022

So we’ve had our bookhaul and wrap up posts about August 2023, so it’s time to take a look at a year ago. What books did we add to our shelves in August 2022? Have we read them? Keep on reading to find out!

Candyce

In August 2022 my boyfriend built me my library, so I had to add some books to start filling my shelves. I’m still really happy with my library! Let’s take a look at the 9 books I added to my library in August 2022.

Things We Never Got Over – Lucy Score
Read

Things We Never Got Over is almost 600 pages and it didn’t feel like that to me at all! I flew through this book and it hit me in the feels. I was laughing, crying, and I got so attached to these characters. As I’m typing this I’m reading Things We Hide From the Light. Lucy Score is an author I highly recommend giving a try.

Thank You for Listening – Julia Whelan
Read

Thank You for Listening was a fast and fun read. I loved that our main character was an audiobook narrator and how the romance slowly developed. The emails and text messages throughout the book are my favorite kind of things to read, so I was a happy reader. At times the only thing that bugged me was how the main character looked down on romance books. It just felt like a bit much at times.

My Imaginary Mary – Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton & Jodi Meadows
Unread

Out of all of the books I got this month, I’m surprised that I haven’t read My Imaginary Mary. The final book in the trilogy was delayed, so maybe I’m just trying to save it because I know I won’t be getting another book for awhile. These three authors write amazing books together and I’m actually hoping to read My Imaginary Mary this month.

Heart Bones – Colleen Hoover
Read

Even though I’m a big fan of Colleen Hoover I still haven’t read all of her books. Heart Bones is one that I have read since I added it to my shelves. A lot of people seem to love this one and after reading it I completely understand why. This is definitely an emotional story, but also a beautiful one.

Blood Like Magic & Blood Like Fate – Liselle Sambury
Read

This duology was amazing! I’m so glad that I read it. Our main character must kill her first love to save her family’s magic. That’s not easy task and on her journey to fall in love and even try and find a way around everything she discovers quite a few secrets. If you enjoy magic, family secrets, love, and a character who has to grow up a lot, I highly recommend these books.

Hook, Line, and Sinker – Tessa Bailey
Read

Fox and Hannah’s romance was so much fun to read and I’m glad we got a story for both sisters. I love stories where one helps the other to get a date or confidence to start a relationship and they end up falling for each other.

Love on the Brain – Ali Hazelwood
Read

Ali Hazelwood is an author that often uses the same set up or concept in books, but all I can say is that it works. So far I’ve loved everything she’s written including Love on the Brain. Bee and Levi are a great couple and I loved their story.

You & I Rewritten – Chip Pons
Read

When I sat down to read You & I Rewritten I just couldn’t put it down. The romance was amazing, the bookish side of the story was amazing, and it hit me in all the feels. I remember pretty much being in tears while I was reading the last part of the book. I can’t wait to see what Chip Pons writes next.

End Result:
Read: 8/9 – 88.9%
TBR: 1/9 – 11.1%

Isabelle

I actually got some new books in August 2022, can you believe it? Last year in August I was in Minnesota and I always get new books when I’m there. I did actually hold back and didn’t get that much for once. These are the 5 (audio)books I got in August 2022.

The Agathas – Kathleen Glasgow & Liz Lawson
Unread

I can’t believe I still haven’t read this one. It sounds like a book I will really enjoy and Candyce did just that. I guess I just haven’t been reading that much apart from all my rereading haha. But this might be a good book to read this fall!

Death Note Black Edition vol. VI – Tsugumi Ohba
Read

This one I did read! I finally read it this summer actually haha. And I did finish the series with that one which is always a nice thing. It wasn’t my favorite in the series but I’m happy to have read it.

Cain’s Jawbone – Torquemada
Unread

I feel a bit weird about including this one as it’s more of a puzzle than a novel. But I haven’t even started the puzzle yet so it’s definitely unread haha. I would like to start it once I’ve moved and have space in my ‘crafts’ room.

Wordslut: A Feminist Guide to Taking Back the English Language – Amanda Montell
Unread

I have read a bit of this book and really enjoyed it. But I just don’t read non-fiction in one go. Usually I’ll read a chapter here and there until I’ve finished it all. It is a super interesting book and I’m excited to continue reading it.

Audible

All Good People Here – Ashley Flowers
Read

This one I have read! And it was a really enjoyable read. I love Ashley Flowers’ podcast Crime Junkie and I really liked this fictional crime story. Hopefully she’ll write more because I will for sure be reading those. Until then I’ll have to make due with the podcast haha.

End Result:
Read: 2/5 – 40%
TBR: 3/5 – 60%

So that’s our looking back at our bookhauls for August 2022! Have you read any of these? What did you think? Let us know in the comments. We’d love to hear from you.
