We’re nearing the end of the month and that means it’s time to talk about the books releasing next month we’re interested in. September normally marks the beginning of a really busy bookish season with a lot of releases. So how many have caught our attention? Keep on reading for our most anticipated September releases!
Suddenly a Murder – Lauren Munoz (September 5th)
Seven friends throw a 1920s themed party and all goes well until one of them gets murdered. This turns this story into a locked-room mystery and I’m here for it. I’m excited to curl up with Suddenly a Murder on a rainy day.
The Library of Shadows – Rachel Moore (September 5th)
A haunted prep school? That sounds like the perfect spooky season read. This cover is very intriguing and I’m excited to read this story!
Fly with Me – Andie Burke (September 5th)
Fly with Me is another fake dating/opposites attract romance and I’m loving those! Add a stunning cover and I’m sold. Both characters use their deal to try and give themselves some progress in their careers.
Assistant to the Villain – Hannah Nicole Maehrer (September 5th)
This one sounds like a ton of fun! The main character literally becomes the assistant to the Villain of the story and from the synopsis it looks like it’s an actual villain villain. I think I will love this one if the writing style is enjoyable.
Things We Left Behind – Lucy Score (September 5th)
I’m sure a lot of you have seen Lucy Score’s Knockemout series around, because they’re pretty popular. Things We Left Behind is the third book and Lucian’s story. I still need to read the second book, but I knew I wanted Lucian’s story after the first book.
Fall of Ruin and Wrath – Jennifer L. Armentrout (September 12th)
Jennifer L. Armentrout is one of my favorite authors and I’m excited we’re getting a new fantasy romance series from her. This cover is stunning and I’m excited to see what it’s all about.
Every Exquisite Thing – Laura Steven (September 14th)
I adore Laura Steven and am excited about every thing she releases. But this one also sounds just really good! It’s a feminist YA horror-thriller-romance retelling of The Picture of Dorian Gray and that’s all I needed to know. I’ve never read The Picture of Dorian Gray but I know the story and can’t wait to see what Laura Steven did with it.
Play of Shadows – Sebastien de Castell (September 14th)
I have Sebastien de Castell’s previous series on my TBR and have been wanting to read it for so long. Unfortunately I still haven’t done so haha. But this start to a new series sounds super interesting as well. There is a lot going on in the synopsis but I saw a duel, a company of actors and a hero turned traitor/murderer so I am absolutely intrigued.
Cleat Cute – Meryl Wilsner (September 19th)
I read and enjoyed Mistakes Were Made last year and I’ve been excited about Cleat Cute. A sapphic rivals to lovers sports romance. Sounds like a great combination of tropes! I’ll be reading this one soon.
Champion of Fate – Kendare Blake (September 19th)
I adored the Three Dark Crowns series by Kendare Blake so so much. So I added this without even looking at the synopsis haha. By now I have read the synopsis and it sounds like something I will enjoy. I can’t wait to learn more about the Aristene, the heromakers.
The Fragile Threads of Power – V.E. Schwab (September 26th)
I’ve talked about this one over and over again recently. The Shades of Magic series is one of my favorites and I adore all of V.E. Schwab’s work. I was hoping for a Shades of Magic spinoff and this is everything I was hoping for. Right now I’m about 75% done with my eARC and I can’t wait to read the last bit.
The Scarlet Veil – Shelby Mahurin (September 26th)
I really enjoyed Serpent & Dove but still need to read the sequel. This book takes place in the same world as that series and is a vampire romance. While I do still want to continue the Serpent & Dove series, I might go for this one first.
Unrealistic Expectations – Andie J. Christopher (September 26th)
I love the idea of a relationship therapist fake dating when she gets dumped right before her new dating handbook gets released. My favorite trope is fake dating, so I need to read this one!
Thieves’ Gambit – Kayvion Lewis (September 26th)
A heist thriller marketed as The Inheritance Games meets Ocean’s Eleven. Two of my top favorite stories. I don’t need to know anything else, I just know I will love this. And I can’t wait until it releases!
The Hexologists – Josiah Bancroft (September 26th)
I really liked Senlin Ascends and want to read the rest of the Books of Babel series by this author. But I think I’ll read this new release first. It’s the start to a new series and it sounds like something I will really enjoy. If the writing style is similar to Senlin Ascends, I’m sure I’ll like it.
So that’s our list of September releases we’re excited about. What books are you looking forward to? Did we miss any? Let us know in the comments! We’d love to hear from you.
My copy of Assistant to the Villain is arriving today and I can’t wait. I’ve seen some good early reviews. I’m also really curious about The Scarlet Veil. Can’t have enough vampires – especially at this time of year.
I want those first two as well!
I have a few of those on my list as well. Hope you love all of them.
