Can’t Wait Wednesday | The Breakup Tour –

We wanted to do another bookish meme on Wednesday and after doing Can’t Wait Wednesday a few times we decided that would be a fun one to bring around more often! About twice a month you’ll see this meme on our blog.

Can’t Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

A rising-star musician has a second chance at love with an old flame she remembers all too well in this swoony romance from the acclaimed authors of The Roughest Draft.

Riley Wynn went from a promising singer-songwriter to a superstar overnight, thanks to her breakup song concept album and its unforgettable lead single. When Riley’s ex-husband claims the hit song is about him, she does something she hasn’t in ten years and calls Max Harcourt, her college boyfriend and the real inspiration for the song of the summer.

Max hasn’t spoken to Riley since their relationship ended. He’s content with managing the retirement home his family owns, but it’s not the life he dreamed of filled with music. When Riley asks him to go public as her songwriting muse, he agrees on one condition: he’ll join her in her band on tour.

As they perform across the country, Max and Riley start to realize that while they hit some wrong notes in the past, their future could hold incredible things. And their rekindled relationship will either last forever or go down in flames.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m not really a romance or contemporary reader. But every now and then there is a book that catches my attention and that I do want to read. I’ve read some contemporary books I have adored and it nice to change up my reading every now and then.

You might’ve seen that I’m a Taylor Swift fan so when I saw that there was going to be a book inspired by her I was immediately intrigued. I haven’t read anything by these authors yet but Candyce has and she already added more of their books to her TBR. It’s always good to know that a trusted friend enjoys an author (or author duo in this case), that makes me think I might enjoy them as well! Candyce and I are usually pretty much on the same page when we read the same books.

I hope this book shares some of the lyrics of this songwriter main character, because that is something I really enjoy in books. In general I’m a big lover of music and it can be such a cool crossover. It looks like this will be a second chance romance and I have to say I haven’t read that many of those! I’m curious to see if I’ll enjoy that part. Is this one on your radar? And have you read anything else by this author duo? I would love to hear from you in the comments!

  1. It was just a matter of time before there was a TS inspired book. I’m actually seeing some references to her songs in other titles and books as well. I hope you love this one. This does sound good and I like it when books have a musical aspect.
