August is starting next week, so I thought it was time to start thinking about what I wanted to read next month. I’ve still really been enjoying mood reading, but there is a list of books I’ll be reading for book club/buddy reads or just want to read soon. Keep on reading to see what books are on my August TBR!
Group Reads/Buddy Reads
There are a few missing from this list, because I don’t see my in person book club until tomorrow and we haven’t voted on a new book.
The Lake House – Sarah Beth Durst
The Lake House definitely sounds like a book that’s a little darker than what I read, but it sounds so good!! Imagine heading to summer camp to find everything burned to the ground and a dead body in the woods. Hopefully there’s a stormy day in August, because that would be the perfect weather for this book.
The Bronzed Beasts – Roshani Chokshi
At the moment I’m reading The Silvered Serpent and The Bronzed Beasts is the last book in this trilogy. Like I said I’m reading the second book now, so I didn’t read the synopsis for The Bronzed Beasts. I’m excited to be finishing another series in August though.
The Spare Room – Andrea Bartz
A friend and I constantly have a buddy read on the go and we decided we want to read a thriller next. I’ve been wanting to read more thrillers and this is one I’ve been seeing everywhere. Also, the main character has the same name as my friend, so we decided to give this one a go.
A Court of Thorns and Roses – Sarah J Maas
Ellie from Read to Ramble and I decided between the newer books we want to read together that we’re going to start rereading A Court of Thorns and Roses. Both of us need to read A Court of Silver Flames and want a refresher before we do.
eARCs
So I don’t have any tours in August, but there are some eARCs that I have that I really want to read.
Cold Girls – Maxine Rae
Our main character survives a car crash that he best friend doesn’t survive. This sounds like it’s going to be a very emotional reads and they can honestly be the best. The publisher contacted me to see if I wanted to read Cold Girls and I’m really curious.
The Reunion – Kit Frick
As a fan of thrillers, I’m really excited to read The Reunion. Families have secrets and it seems that this one is going to have quite a few. Hopefully this is one that I can’t put down once I start.
Magnolia Parks & Daisy Haites – Jessa Hastings
I actually bought Magnolia Parks last year, but since then this indie published series has been picked up by a publisher. While I don’t really love these covers, I’m excited to finally start this series.
Backlist Books
So I do read at least three physical backlist books a month and always choose three random ones from my list. I may not always read the ones I chose, but I am reading my physical collection.
Hang the Moon – Alexandria Bellefleur
Hang the Moon is actually a book I’m surprised I haven’t finished yet. I loved Written in the Stars and recently I read and loved The Fiancee Farce. So it’s time I catch up on the rest of Alexandria’s backlist.
The Crown of Gilded Bones – Jennifer L Armentrout
It’s time for me to start catching up with From Blood and Ash. I loved the first two books and there are now quite a few books to catch up on. The Crown of Gilded Bones is the next and it’s over 600 pages. Which is good for my goal of reading bigger books.
Hide – Kiersten White
I don’t read much horror, but Hide sounds like a great book. Hiding in an abandoned amusement park and trying not to get caught sounds rather scary, but add the fact that people start disappearing and things just get creepy.
So this is what I’m hoping to read in August! Have you read any of these? Or what do you plan on reading next month? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you.
