Another month is almost over, so it’s time to take a look at what books are releasing in August. What are our most anticipated releases? August can be a quieter month before September comes at us with so many books, so let’s see how August 2023 goes. What books are we looking forward to? Keep on reading to find out!
In the Likely Event – Rebecca Yarros (August 1st)
Rebecca Yarros is an autobuy author for me and three books by her within a few months is very exciting. Her contemporary romances tend to always have me in tears, so I’m going to take my time with this one while waiting for Iron Flame in November.
Tilly in Technicolor – Mazey Eddings (August 15th)
I recently read an adult romance by Mazey Eddings and now I’m really curious about her YA debut, Tilly in Technicolor. Two neurodivergent teens who form a connection during the summer. I’m excited for this story!
After That Night – Karin Slaughter (August 22nd)
Karin Slaughter has always been one of my favorite authors and I’m so happy that I have gotten back to her work this year. This is the newest installment in the Will Trent series and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
I’m Not Done With You Yet – Jesse Q Sutanto (August 22nd)
I still haven’t read a Jesse Q. Sutanto book but I really want to! And this newest release sounds so good. It’s dark and twisty and about female friendships so I just know I will enjoy it.
The Water Outlaws – S.L. Huang (August 22nd)
This book with a gorgeous cover is about female bandits and inspired by a classic of martial arts literature. A fantasy, historical retelling that is also feminist, sign me up!
It’s Not a Cult – Lauren Danhof (August 29th)
A daughter races to save her mother from a dangerous cult. I have a feeling this is going to be a quirky book, but I love those from time to time. I hope it makes me laugh, but also hits me in all the feels.
Never a Hero – Vanessa Len (August 29th)
I loved Only A Monster so this sequel was one of my most anticipated releases of the year. And I was lucky enough to get an eARC, so I already read this one. You can expect my review soon, and you should definitely be on the lookout for this release. Time traveling monsters and wonderful characters, it’s so good.
The Brothers Hawthorne – Jennifer Lynn Barnes (August 29th)
Another one of my favorite authors, Jennifer Lynn Barnes writes amazing characters and great books. I adored the Inheritance Games series and I can’t wait for this book about the brothers Hawthorne. The brothers are all wonderful and I hope we get another cool mystery.
My Roommate is a Vampire – Jenna Levine (August 29th)
My Roommate is a Vampire sounds like such a fun romcom. Our main character is already suspicious when she gets a too good to be true apartment, but then she starts noticing weird things about her roommate. I can’t wait to read this one.
Vampires of El Norte – Isabel Cañas (August 29th)
More books about vampires! Vampires are truly back and I’m so happy about it. Especially since it’s mostly ruthless vampires again. This book is a horror one, so I do hope it’s not too scary for me haha.
House of Marionne – J. Elle (August 29th)
House of Marionne is the start of a new modern day YA romantic fantasy series. I’m always looking forward to diving into new fantasy worlds and this one sounds just for me. We’re getting morally gray characters and dark academia vibes. Sign me up!
So those are the books we’re looking forward to that release in August 2023! What books are on your radar? Did we miss any releases you think everybody needs to know about? Let us know in the comments! We’d love to hear from you.
I love that Vampires are back!
I have In The Likely Event and After That Night on my list too. Hope you enjoy all of them.
