We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s topic is Books With One-Word Titles. I’m sure I have a couple of those on my shelves so I’ll try and stick to books I have on my TBR. Let’s take a look!
1. Lore – Alexandra Bracken
I loved Alexandra’s The Darkest Minds series and when I saw Lore I knew I wanted to read it. This was actually a present from my brother so I feel a bit bad that I still haven’t read it yet. Hopefully soon!
2. Godsgrave – Jay Kristoff
This one has been on a lot of lists lately haha. So I better read it soon. I have it with me on my vacation so there is a chance I will actually read it haha. Nevernight was amazing so I have high hopes for Godsgrave.
3. Legendborn – Tracy Deonn
I have heard amazing things about Legendborn. And to be honest, that scares me a little bit haha. I’ve seen people call this their favorite book ever and I’m not sure any book can live up to that kind of hype and those expectations…. But who knows, I might call it my new favorite after reading it too.
4. Legendary – Stephanie Garber
I’m pretty sure this will not be my new favorite haha. The first book in the series was a bit disappointing in my opinion and while I own the whole series (with the most beautiful covers ever) I still haven’t read them. Most readers seem to enjoy this book more than Caraval so I do have some hope.
5. Spellslinger – Sebastien de Castell
This is a book I have been wanting to read for so long! Not a lot of people know this series or talk about it but those that do seem to like it a lot. The synopsis sounds like it is my kind of book and I do own a gorgeous edition. Candyce has a couple of books in the series so maybe we need to tackle it together at some point.
6. Skyward – Brandon Sanderson
I’m still super excited about this one and love all the Brandon Sanderson books I’ve read so far. But I do think I want to read all of the Cosmere books I own before starting on this series. I have some biggggg books left to go so it might take me a while haha.
7. Bloodwitch – Susan Dennard
How is this one still on my TBR? I adore this series and have been planning on reading this as soon as it released. First I was okay with waiting since the sequel wasn’t released yet but that’s no excuse anymore. It would be great if I could make this a 2023 read.
8. Phobos3 – Victor Dixen
This one is not that high on my priority list. But I am curious to see what happens next in the story. When I bought this one, I thought it was going to be a trilogy and thus the final book but unfortunately that’s not the case. It is a sci-fi novel and I am in the mood for those stories pretty often.
9. Wildcard – Marie Lu
If only I would read this one soon, I could cross off another series from my list. I enjoyed the first book a lot and I am definitely still interested in this one. At some point I read the first couple of chapters and was enjoying it. Hopefully I can pick this one back up soonish.
10. Invictus – Ryan Graudin
This is one I’m super sad about, why is this still on my TBR? I’ve owned it for quite a while now and I’ve always been really excited about it. Time traveling pirates, can there be a more me story? I have high hopes for this one. Maybe I can read it after I finish my current read involving time travel.

That was my Top Ten Tuesday for today! I had even more one-word book titles on my TBR but I decided to go with these. They are probably the books I’m most excited about and I hope to read at least some of them this year. Have you read any of them? And what is your favorite book with a one-word title? Let me know in the comments!
For some reason I couldn’t get into spellslinger even though that should have been right up my alley. With series like Caraval I often enjoy it in the moment but then it never quite lingers for me. It is that the series does have the best naked hardcovers otherwise I would have cut them from my shelves already I suspect.

Haha yes the covers are the only reason I still have them and do want to read them at some point. Sad to hear Spellslinger was a let down, it does sound like something I will really enjoy so I hope the story will grab me.
Lore sounds interesting.
Here is my Top Ten Tuesday post.
It really does! Hopefully it lives up to it’s potential haha.
I hope you like Invectus.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.
Thank you! I have been wanting to read it for years!
Some very beautiful covers. Happy reading, Candyce ????☕????????
Caraval has been on my list for a while, hopefully I get to it soon!

I’m curious to see how you like it! I was a bit disappointed by it but a lot of readers loved it.
I enjoyed Skyward
That’s good to hear! I’m looking forward to reading it!
I love all of your choices. They’re strong one-word titles.
These are some great one-word titles. Sadly, I haven’t read any of them.
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

Legendary was on my list too-and I did enjoy it more than Caraval but then I really liked Caraval so I don’t know if that says much! I’ve also read Lore, which I found quite disappointing tbh, it wasn’t as good as I’d hoped it would be, and Bloodwitch which I enjoyed although I’ve found the entire Witchlands series quite confusing and I think I only really continue reading them because I like the characters, I’ve very little idea of what’s actually going on in the plot.

Oh no, sad to hear Lore was disappointing! And haha yes I feel like Legendary can go either way for me, I just have to try it at some point. Happy to hear you enjoyed Bloodwitch, but a confusing plot can be annoying. Did you read Sightwitch? It was a novella but I think I remember it was pretty important.
