As I’ve mentioned before, one of my important reading goals of 2023 is shrinking my physical TBR. Sometimes it’s hard to think of what books I still have or subjects I want to read about. So we needed a way to keep track of this. 5 On My TBR is a way of keeping track. This is a meme hosted by E from Local Bee Hunter’s Nook. Every week there’s a different prompt for five on my TBR.
This week’s topic is contemporary. I have to say this topic won’t be hard. Contemporary is one of my go to genres and I have quite a few on my TBR. Let’s take a look at a few I hope to read soon.
If He Had Been with Me – Laura Nowlin
The synopsis is pretty vague for If He Had Been with Me, but I’ve heard amazing things about it recently. All I know is that a lot of readers cry their eyes out near the end of the book. I love when authors are able to do that, so I’ll be reading this one soon.
Alone With You in the Ether – Olivie Blake
After reading The Atlas Six I’ve been curious about more by Olivie Blake. A lot of people were really positive about Alone With You in the Ether and I finally picked up a copy recently. Two strangers meet by chance and it seems like they’re going to change each other’s lives. I’ve heard this one also has people in tears and I’m kind of scared to find out why, haha.
Authentically Izzy – Pepper D. Basham
I was sold once I read that our main character was a bookworm just like I am. The synopsis even states she hasn’t met her own Prince Charming yet, because she spends more time with fictional humans than real ones (I can’t blame her, haha). Our main character’s cousin sets her up on a dating site and she starts talking to someone. This book is told through novels and I love books like that!
The Way I Used To Be – Amber Smith
Eden is raped by her brother’s best friend at 14 and we follow how this changes her life over the next four years. The Way I Used To Be isn’t going to be an easy story to read, I’ve heard that this book is beautifully written.
Swear on This Life – Renee Carlino
Swear on This Life has been on my TBR for years and it’s really time for me to read this book. I hear nothing but amazing things about this book. Our main character reads a book that could be her life and realizes the author must be her childhood best friend. I’m intrigued!
Here are five contemporary books on my shelves that I’m hoping to read soon. Have you read any of these? Or what are some contemporary books you’re hoping to read soon? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear from you!
I hope you enjoy these! Contemporary isn’t a genre I reach for much but I’m wanting to get out of my comfort zone. Do you have any recommendations?
Hope you get to read them soon and that you like them. Have a great week.
