Fantasy is one of my favorite genres and I’m always looking out for new stories. That’s why I’m excited for my stop on the tour for Dark Magic hosted by TBR and Beyond Tours. The first book in this new fantasy series sounds like an interesting one and I had the opportunity to interview Raluca Narita! So keep on reading to find out more about this book and the interview!
Dark Magic (The Chronicle of the Underworld #1) by Raluca Narita
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy
Publishing Date: June 27, 2023
The Goddess of Death, the Grimm Brothers, and the Devil collide in a thrilling new paranormal fantasy series.
Primrose Titan is the Goddess of Death, an ancient deity who reaps the souls of the dead and rules the Underworld. All life ends with death, and in death, there is no happiness. Primrose knows this better than anyone, and her heavy responsibility has twisted her reality, purging her of all feelings for humans—or so she believes.
When the Demon King Lucifer escapes his prison in Hell and threatens chaos on the human world, Primrose must hunt him down. The High Court, a council of deities, is skeptical Primrose can handle Lucifer on her own and appoints the handsome yet icy Atlas Grimm, one of the fabled Grimm Brothers, to assist her. Strange, dark magic and supernatural creatures sent from the Devil himself stand in their way, along with political enemies acquired over the millennia.

Author Interview
What inspired you to write Dark Magic?
I fell in love with the Percy Jackson series when I was younger, especially the unique portrayal of Greek Gods and Goddesses. In recent years, I’ve also read so many fantastic retellings of fairy tales initially written by the Grimm Brothers. I wanted to bring a unique story to life that integrated Gods and Goddesses with the Grimm Brothers and a hierarchy of demons.
What has been the favorite part of your publishing journey so far?
The marketing part has been a ton of fun—from creating content for social media posts to recruiting members to the street team, I’ve enjoyed building up hype and excitement for Dark Magic!
If you were a character in Dark Magic, what kind of character would you be?
I’d probably be one of the reapers, guiding souls from the human realm to the Underworld.
Describe Dark Magic in five words or less.
An action-packed paranormal fantasy!
What is your favorite quote from Dark Magic?
“Dead is dead only when I say so.” —Primrose Titan
What do you hope readers take away from your story?
I hope readers realize that they should live their life to the fullest extent because all life ends with death. Death is often sudden and unexpected, so spending time with the people you love and living in the moment is incredibly important.
