A little while ago I used a try a chapter tag to see if I was still interested in the older eArcs I haven’t read yet. While I was excited for them when I requested them, my reading tastes have changed a bit and some of these books just aren’t for me anymore. I have not nearly enough time to spend it on books I don’t enjoy or I’m not excited about so I have to make some decisions. Let’s see what I think after the first chapter!
Miracle Creek – Angie Kim
Okay this opening chapter was great! The title of the chapter is ‘The Incident’ and dives right into the story. I really enjoyed it and I definitely want to keep on reading. What was the aftermath of the incident, who is responsible (it’s a court room mystery thriller), what is going on with the protesters? Like I said, the opening was well done and I hope to fully read this one soon.
The Grey Sisters – Jo Treggiari
I’m not sure about this one, I was intrigued by the synopsis and really thought I would like this one. But the opening chapter didn’t really grab me to be honest. I was somewhat interested but realised these characters aren’t in the rest of the book. Also, the writing style wasn’t for me, I felt myself losing focusing a lot. Maybe I’ll try for a few more chapters but I might not finish this one.
Part of the Family – Charlotte Philby
This is part domestic thriller, part espionage story and I thought I would really enjoy that, especially the espionage part. But it looks like I can’t really get past the domestic thriller part. I wasn’t really interested in what I read so far, from the reviews it sounds like it will get a bit more interesting but also not really better since the reviews aren’t that positive. This is another one I might give a few more chapters before giving up but I don’t have high hopes anymore.
And that was another Try a Chapter! Maybe not that satisfying as I didn’t really make a decision on 2 out of the 3 books haha. Have you read any of these? Would you recommend them to me? I would love to hear from you! Let me know in the comments!
Miracle Creek was definitely a page-turner.
This makes so much sense and I thought I was the only one who got this feeling sometime. Great post
Haven’t read any of those, but I hope you enjoy the ones you do decide to read.
