TTT #283| Indie/Self-Published Books

We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Indie/Self-Published Books. I’m a big fan of indie authors! There are a lot of books on my TBR written by these authors and I want to talk about ten on my TBR. So let’s take a look!

The Confidence of Wildflowers – Micalea Smeltzer

The Confidence of Wildflowers is the first book in an age gap duology. That’s not a trope I read a lot, but after seeing this book everywhere last year it’s time for me to finally read it. I actually added this one to my TBR a few times near the end of last year, but didn’t get to them.

The Bribe – Willa Nash

Willa Nash is Devney Perry’s pen name and there are some books by her I really want to read. The Bribe is the first book in the Calamity Montana series. The Bribe is a small town romance with a touch of mystery. Our main character is a country music star trying to keep her identity a secret. Sounds like my kind of book!

Puck Shy – Teagan Hunter

I LOVED Teagan’s texting series and she now has a hockey romance series that I’ve heard great things about. Puck Shy is the first book in the Carolina Comets series that now has six books out. The synopsis says it’s low angst fun, so perfect when I need a lighthearted read.

Mile High – Liz Tomforde

So I’m in the mood for hockey romances lately and Mile High caught my eye. This book is one I’ve seen quite a bit on bookstagram, booktube, and booktok. It’s 600 pages, so it’ll keep me busy for awhile. I believe the second book in this series has the fake dating trope, so I need to read this one soon.

Hail Mary – Kandi Steiner

After recently loving Blind Side and Quarterback Sneak I have to read the fourth and final book in this football romance series. We meet Mary and Leo in Quarterback Sneak and I need their story.

Black Ties and White Lies – Kat Singleton

I can’t resist fake dating romances and Black Ties and White Lies is one I’ve become really curious about. Besides fake dating we have forced proximity and ex’s older brother. I’ll never say no to fake dating!

Phantom – Greer Rivers

A dark modern retelling of Phantom of the Opera? Yes, please! I’m always curious how authors will turn a well known story into their own. If I love this, I know Greer Rivers is releasing a Moulin Rouge retelling soon.

Lotus – Jennifer Hartmann

After loving the Heartsong duology at the beginning of the year I’ve wanted to read more by Jennifer Hartmann. Lotus is a book I hear people raving about. I have a feeling this is going to be an emotional read, but I love those.

There Are No Saints – Sophie Lark

Sophie Lark is an author I finally gave a try at the end of last year and I fell in love with her writing. I’m still working on the Brutal Birthright series, but I’ve heard amazing things about the Sinners Duet. A serial killer romance isn’t something I ever thought I would read, but I want to give it a try. So do realize this book is dark if you want to pick it up.

Corrupt – Penelope Douglas

Corrupt is the start of the Devil’s Night series and another one that’s darker. I haven’t read the synopsis, so I only know this is a dark and twisted story. It’s one I hear a lot of people talk about and it’s time for me to read it myself.

  1. I can confirm that Hunter’s hockey series is AMAZING. I’ve loved each and every book. I also have enjoyed that Perry/Nash series for the most part. Hail Mary was probably my favorite in that series, so you’re in for fun there as well. I hope you get to these soon!
