As I’ve mentioned before, one of my important reading goals of 2023 is shrinking my physical TBR. Sometimes it’s hard to think of what books I still have or subjects I want to read about. So we needed a way to keep track of this. 5 On My TBR is a way of keeping track. This is a meme hosted by E from Local Bee Hunter’s Nook. Every week there’s a different prompt for five on my TBR.
This week’s topic is superheroes. I already have a few that come to mind when I read this week’s theme. Let’s take a look at the five books on my TBR that have to do with superheroes.
Flash Fire & Heat Wave – TJ Klune
Flash Fire & Heat Wave are the second and third book in The Extraordinaries trilogy. I love the first book and actually started Flash Fire (and then got distracted). Our main character writes fanfiction about his city’s superheroes. There are lots of secrets and definitely some emotional subjects in this book. I can’t wait to read about the adventures our main character will get himself into.
Renegades – Marissa Meyer
So I own the whole Renegades trilogy, but I’m only adding the first book, because I haven’t read any of the first book yet. I have a feeling this book is going to be filled with secrets, betrayal and lots of action.
Steelheart – Brandon Sanderson
I love the idea of seeing how the world changes once humans get extraordinary gifts and crave power. We all know that this will never end well. In this series a group of ordinary humans come together to find the weaknesses of these gifted people and to get rid of them. I have a feeling this book is going to be very dark at times, but I’m so intrigued!
Vengeful – V.E. Schwab
In this Villains series it shows us that gaining super powers doesn’t always lead to heroes, but can also lead to villains. I loved Vicious and even though you don’t approve of what the characters do, their back story makes you feel for them. I flew through the first book, so I’m actually shocked I haven’t read Vengeful yet.
Heroine Complex – Sarah Kuhn
Heroine Complex is a book Isabelle gave me and said she enjoyed. Our main character is the personal assistant to her childhood best friend and beloved superhero. If only her life was also that glamorous. Things get even more interesting when it’s revealed she has powers too. Sounds like a story right up my alley.
So here are a few books with superheroes on my TBR I really need to read soon. Have you read any of these or have others on your TBR? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you.
I’ve read the Sanderson one. I enjoyed it.
I had forgotten all about Renegades! I used to want to read it so bad. But it was just one of those I kept putting off. Now I want to pick it up.
Steelheart (well, technically I read Firefight first), Renegades, and Heroine Complex are the ones that I’ve read and enjoyed! I haven’t finished all of Renegades and I haven’t finished all of Heroine Complex yet – the series for both – but I want to. I enjoyed all of what I read so far.
