While I usually love watching tv shows more than watching movies, lately I have been watching a lot of movies! I had been looking forward to some movies that would be releasing on Netflix and Disney+. So of course I also wanted to share my thoughts on those movies! So let’s take a look!
The School for Good and Evil
Netflix
Best friends Sophie and Agatha find themselves on opposing sides of an epic battle when they’re swept away into an enchanted school where aspiring heroes and villains are trained to protect the balance between Good and Evil.
I adore the books series this movie is based on so of course I was super excited to watch the movie. And I really enjoyed it. There were quite some deviations from the original story but I would say that overall they got the story and the characters right. I would’ve loved to see certain scenes play out but I understand you have to skip some things if you want to make it into a movie. Of course I would’ve preferred a tv-show so we wouldn’t have to skip those scenes, but I’m not too annoyed.
I liked the actors in here, loved Agatha and think Sophie played her part really well. The feel of the movie was exactly what I hoped it would be and I really enjoyed the music choices. Hopefully we’ll get a second movie, so please go and watch this one soon ;).
See How They Run
Disney+
In the West End of 1950s London, plans for a movie version of a smash-hit play come to an abrupt halt after a pivotal member of the crew is murdered.
I was super excited for this one! The trailer looked like a really fun whodunnit and I think we can’t get enough of those. I love Knives Out, Murder on the Orient Express, Death on the Nile etc. This movie is another take on those murder mysteries and did it in such a fun way. They mention Agatha Christie a lot, she definitely plays a part in the story but they also make fun of her concept I would say.
I think the actors did a great job and I loved the twists in the movie. This was funny, had a good mystery and I just had a really good time watching it. I would highly recommend this and like I said, I need more movies like this so please hit me with your recommendations.
Enola Holmes 2
Netflix
Now a detective-for-hire, Enola Holmes takes on her first official case to find a missing girl as the sparks of a dangerous conspiracy ignite a mystery that requires the help of friends – and Sherlock himself – to unravel
I loved Enola Holmes and I couldn’t wait for the second one to release. And I was not disappointed!! I really like Enola as a character, she is feisty and funny and smart but also has some flaws. The plot was interesting and I love love love how they incorporate actual historical events. It made this not just a funny movie but it also filled my heart.
Something else that filled my heart are the relationships between the characters. They get more developed and I think there were some great messages in this movie. I’m already anticipating the as of yet unannounced third movie because there better be another one!
And those were 3 of the movies I have been watching and loving recently. I especially love watching movies with a mystery at it’s centre that also have that fun feel of Enola Holmes, Knives Out and See How They Run. So please please please give me any recommendations you might have!
Yes! I really enjoyed the Enola Holmes movie as well.
