TTT#262 | Series I’d Like to Start

We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Series I’d Like to Start/Catch up on/Finish. Since I recently did a post about the series I want to finish, I figured it would be fun to talk about the series I would like to start today. All of these are series from which I own at least one book. Let’s take a look!

The Mysterious Benedict Society – Trenton Lee Stewart
The Mysterious Benedict Society – 4 books

I’ve mentioned this one yesterday haha. But this is definitely a series I would like to start soon. There is a tv show on Disney+ but I want to at least read the first book before starting the show. I like MG adventure type stories and I think this would fit for sure.

Ninth House – Leigh Bardugo
Alex Stern – 2 books (ongoing)

I love Leigh Bardugo so I’m automatically interested in anything she writes. But this being dark academia, with a secret society and a murder mystery makes it something right up my alley. The reviews are very much hit or miss but I still have good hopes for me.

Call Down the Hawk – Maggie Stiefvater
Dreamer Trilogy – 3 books

I love The Raven Cycle series and Ronan was one of my favorite characters. So of course I was super excited for this spin-off trilogy. As soon as the first book released I got it, but I still haven’t started it. This year the last book got released so I could read all three in one go.

Jade City – Fonda Lee
The Green Bone Saga – 3 books

This is another finished trilogy. And one that sounds amazing! I think I will love this one a lot. It has magic, crime families and politics. The reviews are very positive so I have very high hopes. Can’t wait to start reading this one.

The Bone Shard Daughter – Andrea Stewart
The Drowning Empire – 2 books (ongoing)

The final book in this trilogy will be released last year. I have had the first one on my TBR pretty much since the release and I think I will really love this series. This one has bone shard magic and I’m super curious to read what that actually entails!

Not Even Bones – Rebecca Schaeffer
Market of Monsters – 3 books

The first book is pitched as Dexter meets This Savage Song so of course I want to read it! I love the This Savage Song duology and have watched all the episodes of Dexter. This sounds like a dark series and I tend to enjoy those a lot!

Skyward -Brandon Sanderson
Skyward – 3 books (ongoing)

I have enjoyed Brandon Sanderson’s books in the past and I’m super excited to read this YA sci-fi series. Since I have a lot of his books on my TBR I decided to finish those series first but at some point I will jump into this series. And it’ll probably by finished by the time I get to it haha.

The City of Brass – S.A. Chakraborty
The Daevabad Trilogy – 3 books

I have been excited to read this series since the first book was released. It sounds like an amazing adult fantasy series with an unusual setting. I love reading books set in different cultures and I can’t wait to learn more through this story. Also, these covers are all gorgeous.

Spellslinger – Sebastien de Castell
Spellslinger – 6 books

I really like the cover and may have been influenced to buy the first book because of that. But the story also sounds intriguing and from reviews I’ve gathered these books are really funny. It also mentions cons and I love reading about a good conman!

A Curious Beginning – Deanna Raybourn
Veronica Speedwell – 7 books (ongoing)

A mystery/thriller with a historical setting, sounds pretty good. And this one comes highly recommended so I’m very excited. It’s also nice to have a longer series when you enjoy the books. I like spending longer with characters and in a world. Can’t wait to dive in!

These are 10 series I would like to start and where I already own at least one book. Have you read any of these series? And would you recommend them to me? Which one should I start with? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Quite a few of these are ones I had on my list today as having started and not yet finished! I read Call Down The Hawk a couple of years back but then didn’t get around to Mister Impossible last year. Now the final book is out hopefully I can read them both quite close together! I also had Not Even Bones, I’ve read and really enjoyed the first book and even bought the second one straight after I finished, but still haven’t read it yet. One series I have finished is the Daevabad trilogy and I really enjoyed them so highly recommend, and I would also like to start the Green Bone Saga and the Spellslinger series.
