TTT #261| Books I Want to Read Before the End of the Year

e have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is unlikable characters your can’t help but love. Once again I’m not really feeling this topic. So it’s time for me to think of another new one for myself. So this week I’ll be talking about books I want to read before the end of the year. Obviously, that’s more than 10, but I want to make these a priority.

Things We Never Got Over – Lucy Score

Things We Never Got Over has been in Amazon’s bestseller’s list since it released. I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about this romance and it’s time for me to read it myself. It was actually on a TBR of mine a month here and there, but part of me is afraid to read it. So many people love it, I’m afraid my expectations are going to be too high! Things We Never Got Over is a grumpy/sunshine romance and those are so much fun.

The First to Die at the End – Adam Silvera

They Both Die at the End was such an emotional read and had me crying at the end. I never expected to get so attached to characters in a book that spans less than 24 hours, but I did. The First to Die at the End is the prequel book. I’m excited to read it, but also afraid it’s going to be another very emotional book.

Magnolia Parks – Jessica Hastings

Magnolia Parks is a book I didn’t know anything about until a few months ago when it was everywhere on booktube. Readers seem to be devouring this one. From what I understand not much happens, because it’s mostly character driven. I also heard it’s very angsty and it makes you angry. The cover also has me very curious. Reading the story will solve this problem I think.

My Imaginary Mary – Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton & Jodi Meadows

I’ve loved The Lady Janies trilogy and My Contrary Mary by these authors, so I have a feeling I’ll love My Imaginary Mary as well. I actually got this one on release day, but still haven’t picked it up. This needs to change, because I’m very curious what they did with Mary Shelley’s story.

Babel – R.F. Kuang

Babel is a dark academia story that I’ve been hearing nothing but amazing things about. I’m also expecting to love it. So much so that I bought a paperback to tab, so I didn’t have to do this to the stunning Illumicrate edition. Hopefully I love it as well.

A Court of Silver Flames – Sarah J Maas

The ACOTAR series is one that I’ve loved so far and I’ve even started A Court of Silver Flames. I just haven’t sat down to finish it. Another book I’ve heard amazing things about and know I’m going to love as well. I just need to stop getting distracted so I can finish Nesta and Cassian’s story.

Hotel Magnifique – Emily J. Taylor

Who wouldn’t want to stay in a hotel that appears in a different location every morning? That sounds like quite the adventure. A friend of mine read this book in a day, so I have a feeling I’ll be able to do the same.

The Beautiful – Renee Ahdieh

The Beautiful released three years ago and I still haven’t read it. Isabelle loved this story and I’ve wanted to read it for ages. I even started, but you know me. I get distracted, haha. The fourth book is releasing next year, so this seems like a perfect time to give it a go.

Belladonna – Adalyn Grace

Belladonna is another book everyone seems to be talking about lately. The main character makes an alliance with Death himself. I don’t think I’ve read anything like this. This seems to be a book to read during this time of year.

The Cost of Knowing – Brittney Morris

After loving Slay I was anxiously awaiting the release of The Cost of Knowing, but it’s another case of I keep getting distracted. Our main character sees the future when he touches a person or object. This is already hard as it is, but even more so when he sees his brother’s death. I have a feeling this is going to be an emotional story.
