TTT #258 | Books I Read On Vacation

We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Books I Read On Vacation. I love reading on vacations so I really love this topic. It was fun looking back through my read list and realise which books I read during which vacations. So let’s take a look!

Red Queen – Victoria Aveyard
Punta Cana (Dominican Republic)

I remember reading this one vividly! At the airport I looked in a bookstore and came across Red Queen. It sounded interesting and I picked it up. I flew through it and made my friend read it as well haha. Before than I hadn’t heard anyone talk about it but it was right around the time the hype started. I’m still reading the series and I hope to finally finish it soonish haha.

Ace of Spades – Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé
Paris (France)

I went to Paris with my mom last year and after going to the Shakespeare and Co bookstore I immediately started reading the books I got there. One of them was Ace of Spades, a book I ADORED. It was written so well and I can’t wait to read more books by this author.

Love Hypothesis – Laura Steven
Paris (France)

This was the other book I got in Paris and read right away. Laura Steven is a great human and I really enjoy her writing. She is super funny and that is clear in her stories. I still have the eARC of her latest book and I need to finish it soon.

Slay – Brittney Morris
Mhère (France)

This was such an amazing read! I still remember laying in the sun in France and flying through this book. As soon as I finished it I wanted to reread it haha. Brittney Morris has written more books and I should read those soon.

The Poppy War – R.F. Kuang
Mhère (France)

Another book I read in France. It was so weird sitting in the sun and reading a dark story like this, but at the same time that is the kind of story I do enjoy reading in the summer. I still need to read the rest of the series, I’ve heard amazing things about them!

All of Our Demise – Amanda Foody & Christine Lynn Herman
Minneapolis (Minnesota, USA)

I actually read this one this past summer. It was one of my most anticipated releases and I was so excited to get an eARC. I loved reading this while sitting in my friend’s garden and I have some great memories when thinking of this book.

Death Note Black Edition vol. V – Tsugumi Ohba
Bottrop (Germany)

This year my brother and I went to Movie Park Germany and in the hotel room I read this volume of Death Note. It was good to be back in this world and with this story. Now I just have one volume to go and should pick that up soon!

The Beautiful – Renée Ahdieh
New York City (New York, USA)

I already had an eARC of The Beautiful but I also got a physical copy when I was in New York. The bookstore I was at had a lot of signed copies of books and I just couldn’t resist. It was also the nudge I needed to finally read The Beautiful and I really enjoyed it. I need to finish reading book 3 in the series soon!

In an Absent Dream – Seanan McGuire
Zürich (Swiss)

I went on a ski trip with friends a couple of years ago now, and while it was just a weekend it was a lot of fun! There wasn’t much time to read but I did manage to pick up In An Absent Dream. It was a great instalment in the Wayward Children series.

City of Ghosts – V.E. Schwab
London (United Kingdom)

During one of my trips to London I picked up City of Ghosts by V.E. Schwab. Of course I also had to read it right away. It was a super fast read so I finished it in two sittings. I love buying books in London and I have a lot from all my trips and living there for a while. It’s so nice to see them on my shelves and remember those trips or that year living abroad!

  1. As much as I loved it, I’m glad I didn’t read Poppy War on vacation.

I would be so incredibly sunburned from saying “Just one more chapter”
