Tag | Monster Mash Book Tag

It is October so I figured it was time for our first Halloween themed book tag of the month! We have done a lot of Halloween book tags over the years but I think I have found one that hasn’t been featured on this blog yet. It is the Monster Mash Book tag and it was created by The Restricted Section. Let’s jump right in!

1.) “I was working in the lab late one night” – What’s a book that kept you up at night?

Probably a different interpretation of the question but I always go back to Mockingjay, I started reading this at 10 in the evening and didn’t stop until I finished it close till morning. I just couldn’t stop before I was done with the story and I definitely bawled my eyes out.

2.) “My eyes beheld an eerie sight.” – What’s the weirdest or creepiest shit you’ve ever read in a book?

I have talked about this one before, but the creepiest book I have read has to be 172 Hours on the Moon. The time on the moon and the ending of the book gave me chills and I couldn’t sleep afterwards haha.

3.) “Get a jolt from my electrodes.” – Name a book that completely shocked or surprised you.

A Deadly Education definitely shocked me, especially the ending haha. The second book had some big surprises as well. I’m currently reading the third book and I just know there will be some more shocking events haha.

4.) “The guests included Wolfman, Dracula, and his son.” – Name your favorite monster or villain from a book.

I feel like this was everyone’s answer for a while but I have to go with AIDAN from the Illuminae files. As a logical person I can totally understand the reasoning about the actions. I’m not saying I agree, but I do understand them!

5.) “Whatever happened to my Transylvania Twist?” – Name a book that was super hyped when it came out, but no one talks about anymore.

In the Netherlands (and maybe everywhere else as well) everyone was talking about The Grace Year for a while. It was super hyped and everyone either read it or wanted to read it. I still haven’t read it yet, even though I do own the book. But I also haven’t heard anyone talk about it in the past couple of years. The book was released in 2019 and that was the last year I heard anyone mention it.

6.) “They did the mash.” – Name your favorite book that is a mash up of two or more genres.

I have to go with My Lady Jane. It was one of the first books I loved love loved that was mashing together multiple genres. We get some historical fiction, fantasy and comedy. And it does all of that well! I love this series so so much and I hope the authors keep doing this for a long time.

7.) “It was a graveyard smash.” – What is your favorite horror novel?

I’m not a horror fan, it is too scary for me to be honest haha. If I have to pick one, I would have to go with The Call. That was some scary stuff!! But I also really enjoyed the book, it was very disturbing and I kept reading until I finished the book.

8.) “The scene was rockin’, all were digging the sounds.” – What’s your favorite song based on a book?

Stay!! This song is based on Kaz and Inej from Six of Crows and it is perfect. I can’t wait for HwaYoun to release more songs. She is on TikTok and I really enjoy her videos.

9.) “Tell them Boris sent you.” – What’s your go-to book recommendation?

Six of Crows, Nevermoor, Truthwitch, Slay, Fangirl, Raised By Wolves and The Raven Boys are a couple of books I will probably never stop recommending.

10.) “For you, the living, this mash was meant too.” – Who do you tag?

Anyone who wants to do this tag!

That was the tag for this week. It was a fun tag to do with some more original questions in my opinion. I would love to hear from you, what is a book that was super hyped but now you don’t hear anyone talk about? Let me know in the comments!
