For the first time in the history of me doing the Down the TBR Hole posts that I haven’t added any new books on my want to read shelf and that I’m starting with less books on that shelf than when I ended my last post!
Down the TBR Hole was originally created over at Lost in a Story. It looked like a fun and productive way to finally make a dent in that Goodreads TBR. I went through my want-to-read shelf a little while ago but I think I was still to kind on a lot of books. Let’s see what I’ll make of it this time around. I decided to go with 10 books at a time so lets get started!
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 or 15 or 20, if you’re feeling adventurous) books
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
- Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!
Current “to-read” shelf: 931 (my last post ended at 933. So in 2 weeks I actually read two of the books that were on this shelf and added no new ones. Yay me!!)
A Study in Brimstone – G.S. Denning
A friend of mine actually suggested this book to me after listening to the audiobook and loving it. This is a re-imagining with Sherlock Holmes being Warlock Holmes. This one definitely sounds like fun.
Keep
XOXO – Axie Oh
As a big fan of contemporary stories this one caught my attention when I first heard about it. I bought the beautiful hardcover, but it’s been almost a year and I still haven’t read it. That needs to change soon.
Keep
We Can’t Keep Meeting Like This – Rachel Lynn Solomon
Another book that’s on my shelf, but that I haven’t read yet. I’ve really enjoyed Rachel Lynn Solomon’s books and have a few on my backlist including this one. I mean it has to be awkward when you confess you have a crush on someone and then get no response, but have to work with them again the next summer.
Keep
Jingle Wars – R. Holmes
We’re heading into the season that I love reading Christmas themed books and Jingle Wars does seem really cute. I’ve read quite a few books that people found it cheesy, but I love that kind of stuff near the holidays. Guess I’ll have to give this one a chance myself.
Keep
All I Want for Christmas – Wendy Loggia
Another holiday themed book. I actually meant to read this one last year, but never got around to it. The main character seems to love Christmas as much as me, so this is definitely a must read!
Keep
Sunkissed – Kasie West
Kasie West writes cute contemporary books. Sunkissed is one I actually received an e-arc for, but haven’t gotten around to reading. I know this is a fast and fun read, but this one may have to wait until Spring.
Keep
The Medium – C.J. Archer
So this is the first book this week that I don’t remember adding to my Goodreads. I have a feeling I saw another author recommend this one. While the story sounds interesting, I don’t see myself getting to this one anytime soon.
Remove
The Ivies – Alexa Donne
I’m a big fan of mysteries/thrillers that take place in the school setting. Getting into the Ivy League colleges can be awful, but it shouldn’t lead to murder like it does here. I’ve heard some mixed reviews about this one, but I’m still curious!
Keep
The War and the Petrichor – Morgan G. Farris
The Chalam Faerytales is a series I loved! I’ve read the first four books and devoured them. I’m actually surprised I forgot about The War and the Petrichor. I still want to read it, but I’ll definitely need a series refresher.
Keep
Survive the Night – Riley Sager
The last year or so I’ve been really getting into thrillers and mysteries and Riley Sager is an author I still need to read a book by. I own Final Girls and I think I have this one as an e-arc. We’re heading into spooky season, so I think it’s time to give this book a go. Our main character just may be traveling with the campus serial killer. Sounds perfect for a dark and rainy day!

Removal Percentage: 10%
Current “to-read” shelf: 930
So that’s my Down the TBR Hole post for this week. I only removed one book from my want to read shelf, but seeing how I didn’t add anything new I’m still happy, haha. What do you think of my choices? Should I pick any of these up really soon? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you.
