It’s actually been quite some time since I’ve done a bookish tag, but with us being halfway through 2022 I’ve been seeing the Mid Year Freak Out Tag everywhere and was even tagged a couple of times to do this one. Isabelle even did this tag a couple of weeks ago. So I guess it’s my turn. Keep on reading to see what it’s all about!
Best Book You’ve Read So Far
This is such a hard questions, because I’ve read 104 books at the moment and so many of them were amazing. How do I choose just one?!? So to make it a bit easier for myself I’m going to share the first read that made my favorites list this year and that was Delilah Green Doesn’t Care. That book was amazing and I can’t wait for the next book in November.
Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far
For me I’d have to say House of Sky and Breath by Sarah J. Maas. I finished this book awhile ago, but that ending is still something I think about frequently. I NEED the next book right now to know how this is going to all continue!
New Release You Haven’t Read Yet, But Want To
As Seen On TV is a new release I haven’t read yet, but really want to. It sounds like a Hallmark movie and I’m always up for something like that. Sometimes you just need to feel good, cheesy stories.
Most Anticipated Release for the Second Half of the Year
There are a few books I’m looking forward to releasing in the second half of 2022, including My Imaginary Mary, Love on the Brain, and Mistakes Were Made.
Biggest Disappointment
My biggest disappointment is the same as Isabelle’s. All the Right Reasons had such a fun premise, but it fell a bit flat for me. I was expecting for more depth and some things I just didn’t get. It was a fun read, don’t get me wrong, but just not what I was hoping for. All the Right Reasons also tied with The Hating Game. I don’t know if it was all the hype, the single POV, or the writing, but that book didn’t work for me.
Biggest Surprise
For me my biggest surprise was the Bergman Brothers series. The first five books are now out and I flew through them in less than a month. Chloe Liese has written such amazing characters that are far from perfect, but that’s what makes them great. We got realistic characters and love stories. I definitely plan on reading these again. I want all of the books physically on my shelves.
Favorite New Author (Debut or New to You)
I’ve had quite a few new to me authors this year, but one that definitely stands out is Tate James. She was my introduction to reverse harem books and I have to say she has me hooked. Her writing pulls you in and doesn’t let you go and she can definitely write some awful cliffhangers. I was very happy I discovered her with a few series already completed.
Newest Fictional Crush
I have to say that a few have come from the Zodiac Academy series. At the moment I’m working on the fourth book and I’m definitely a fan of Orion.
Newest Favorite Character
Another difficult question. I can definitely say this tag is really making me think. And I’m going to pick Delilah from Delilah Green Doesn’t Care. She may seem tough and speak before she thinks, but she’s also very caring and just trying to protect her heart. Delilah felt genuine to me.
Book That Made You Cry
A lot of books have made me cry this year, haha. It actually really doesn’t take much honestly. Hazel Bly and the Deep Blue Sea had me in tears the most though. This book deals with grief and Ashley Herring Blake wrote this book beautifully.
Favorite Book to Film Adaptation You’ve Seen This Year
So I haven’t seen all of the episodes yet, but I’ve seen the first three of Heartstopper and it’s so good. I was a bit hesitant going in, because this graphic novel is so special, but the creators did such a great job bringing this series to the screen. I’m excited that we already know more seasons will be coming.
Most Beautiful Book You’ve Bought or Received This Year
I’ve been lucky about the amazing books I’ve collected this year (and thankfully I’ll be getting more bookcases this fall), but my discreet editions of the Hades series are definitely favorites of mine. They’re all so pretty.
What Book(s) Do You Need to Read by the End of the Year
More than I can probably get done before the end of the year, haha. A few of these books are Gild, The Lightning-Struck Heart, The Confidence of Wildflowers, and Hotel Magnifique.
So that was my Mid Year Freak Out Tag for 2022! I have to say I forgot a few of these questions are actually pretty hard! What has been your favorite book of 2022? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you.
