We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s topic is book covers that feel like summer. That being said, every year we both always do the topic of our most anticipated book in the second half of the year. So this is mine for 2022.
My Imaginary Mary – Brodi Ashton, Jodi Meadows & Cynthia Hand
These three authors write such fun books and I’ve enjoyed The Lady Janies and the first book in this trilogy, My Contrary Mary. The next book, My Imaginary Mary, releases soon and is actually about Mary Shelley. I’ll be reading it as soon as I can get my hands on it.
Love in the Time of Serial Killers – Alicia Thompson
Honestly the title and the cover were what appealed to me at first. Even before I knew what the story was about. If you’re only a fan of true crime it doesn’t exactly help your dating life. Which is the case for our main character. When convinced her new neighbor is a serial killer she gets a surprise that he actually may just be a nice guy. Who knew those existed? I bet this book is going to have a lot of laugh out loud moments.
Love on the Brain – Ali Hazelwood
After The Love Hypothesis and The STEMnist novellas I can safely say that Ali Hazelwood has become an auto-buy author. Enemies to lovers romantic comedy is exactly what Love on the Brain appears to be. I can’t wait to see this scientist have to work on a project with her nemesis.
When in Rome – Sarah Adams
A pop star needs a break from the spotlights and ends up in a small town. I love small town romances, so this book is already scoring points. Our male main character doesn’t have time for celebrity drama, but we all know that is going to change during this story. I can’t wait to see this love story unfold.
A Cosmic Kind of Love – Samantha Young
I love when romances start online and in this case when the main character sends emails to an e-mail address that doesn’t seem to work anymore. Except the messages do end up getting to the person behind this e-mail address. I’m really curious to see how this all plays out.
Reader, I Murdered Him – Betsy Cornwell
Reader, I Murdered Him caught my attention, because of its title. It’s quite a powerful one. I’ve been saying I want to read more historical fiction and this one seems to be a good place to start. Our main character is a vigilante that uses her money and power to punish her friends’ abusive suitors and protect other young women. This sounds like a story I really need to read.
House of Hunger – Alexis Henderson
I’m not one that reads a lot of darker books, but House of Hunger did catch my attention. Blood is power in this society and bloodmaids start to go missing. I have a feeling this is going to be a roller-coaster ride.
Charm – Tracy Wolff
Crave is a series I’ve become addicted to. It’s still over the top and dramatic at times, but I’ve become so invested in all of the characters that I need to keep on reading. The last book has me really curious to see how this series will continue, so I need Charm ASAP.
The Do-Over – Lynn Painter
Lynn Painter has become a favorite author of mine and I’m really excited about The Do-Over. This is a kind of groundhog day book where our main character relives her worst Valentine’s Day over and over again. This doesn’t release until November, but I’ll definitely be reading my e-arc a lot sooner than that.
Better Than Fiction – Alexa Martin
Our main character doesn’t like books and thinks the movie is always better. Can you believe it? She does inherit her grandma’s bookstore and an author that comes to sign there he’s determined to show her the beauty of reading. I love this cover and I’m very excited for this story!
