Every year we set ourselves some reading goals. Some of those goals are easier to meet than others but usually we at least meet some of them. Since I’ve been crazy busy I’m very scared to see how I’ve been doing. I believe I didn’t go too hard on myself when I set my goals but I don’t fully remember them haha. So this is also a great reminder! Let’s see what my goals were and if I’m on my way of completing them.
Goodreads | 100 books
This is my usual yearly goal but I haven’t been able to reach it for the past two years. I’m not mad at it, but it’s still a goal a try to reach. At the moment I’ve read 22 books, so instead of half way, I’m not even a quarter of the way haha. I hope to read quite some books this summer so hopefully I have finished about 35 books by the end of the summer. That way I could have read at least 50 by the end of the year. With the way this year has been going, I would be very happy with that to be honest.
Backlist books | 50 books
Hahahahahaha, mission impossible to say the least… At the moment I’ve read 4 books I owned. At this point I would be happy to read 50 books in general so there is no way I’m going to reach this goal. The only positive thing is that I haven’t bought any new books either so it does look like I will lower my TBR this year. It would be great if I could read 10 more books I own.
Series | 12 series
I did finish 1, but it was also one I only started this year. So I’m not even sure that counts haha. There are 3 series conclusions coming out this year so I hope to at least finish those. I would also like to finish one or two series I already own. Maybe I can finish 5 or 6 this year… Keep your fingers crossed ;).
Netgalley | 65% ratio
I’m currently at 39%. So a bit higher than at the start of the year. To get to 65% I probably would need to finish and review 50 eARCs. By now we know that’s not going to happen, but I did read 5 so far. So I would love to finish 5 more and get somewhere in that 40% range.
It looks like I’m not going to reach any of my goals this year, but I will keep on working towards them. Hopefully I can still reach my ‘updated’ goals. Considering where I am at now, that would be amazing. And maybe I’ll set some easier goals for next year haha. Did you set any goals for yourself? Are you on track? Let me know in the comments!
Yea my overall reading goal is on track, but “read more owned backlist” and “get that NetGalley % up” are not going as well either… I feel you.

Hahaha, I feel like they are 2 of the hardest reading goals!! Hopefully we can both make some progress!
I didn’t really make a lot of goals for the year. I track my books on Goodreads more just for my own benefit than to reach a specific number. I am trying to read more books that I already own, which is going fairly well.

I really like tracking books on Goodreads, the reading goal usually motivates me to read a bit extra but this year I just don’t have to time haha. Great that you’re reading so many books you already own. I would love love love to get my TBR down haha.
I’ve completed my reading goal, but I set it at a really low number. I have a lot of chunky fantasy books that I want to focus on, so I knew I wouldn’t be able to read as many books. I’m thankful just to complete my goal though because I’ve been in an awful reading slump this year.
I might go that route next year, would be a bit more motivating maybe! I love chunky fantasy books but they usually don’t help with your Goodreads challenge haha.
For sure! 😂
I completely trashed my NetGalley rating after working so hard to hit 80%. I’ve managed to get it back to 67%, so I’m making progress. I’m about 10 books behind on my Goodreads goal. There are just so many great books out there!

Oh no, that’s such a bummer! But good work on getting it back to 67%, that’s not bad at all.
There really are so many great books to read, if only I had an extra hour every day just for reading haha.
I’m with you on the series front. I made a goal of at least 9, but that was when I was banking on using audiobooks to get through re-reads faster – before I got a job. But I suppose steady income is more important than reading…hmph. Still, I’ve gotten 3 finished so far, and have another (which doesn’t have audio) in my sights. Best of luck in all your goals!
