Down The TBR Hole #80

In the two weeks since my last Down the TBR Hole I added 4 books to my want to read shelf. Not that bad, but not great either, haha.

Down the TBR Hole was originally created over at Lost in a Story. It looked like a fun and productive way to finally make a dent in that Goodreads TBR. I went through my want-to-read shelf a little while ago but I think I was still to kind on a lot of books. Let’s see what I’ll make of it this time around. I decided to go with 10 books at a time so lets get started!

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 or 15 or 20, if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?
  • Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!

Current “to-read” shelf: 944 (my last post ended at 940. So in 2 weeks I added 4 books. It could’ve been a lot worse.)

The Voting Booth – Brandy Colbert

Voting has become something that is really important and isn’t made easy for everyone unfortunately. I think it’s great that there’s a YA book that talks about this. Our main characters grow close while trying to vote, so there’s a little romance. I still want to read this one!

Ironspark – C.M. McGuire

This week’s Down the TBR Hole is starting out great. Another case of a book I’ve already read, but that I read a different edition. I really wish Goodreads would make this not possible. Ironspark was a fun read. The world and characters were interesting, but I do hope there’s eventually another book. A lot was left open.

Remove

This Time Next Year – Sophie Sousens

I love when there are stories that two characters are born on the same day or keep crossing paths for some reason. Our main character thinks this guy got all of her good luck when they keep crossing paths and he’s very successful. This Time Next Year sounds like a book for me.

Keep

A Trial of Sorcerers – Elise Kova

Elise Kova is an author I’ve read before and I enjoyed her books. A Trial of Sorcerers has magic and a tournament. That’s all I need to know!

Keep

Untethered – KayLynn Flanders

Shielded was an amazing start of this duology and I’m honestly not sure why I haven’t read Untethered yet. So of course this one will be staying on my want to read shelf.

Keep

The Last Windwitch – Jennifer Adam

The Last Windwitch isn’t a book I remember, but the cover is stunning! I honestly don’t know if and when I will get to this middle grade adventure. So for now I’ll be taking it off my list.

Remove

You Love Me – Caroline Kepnes

I loved the first two books in the You series and definitely want to read the third. This also reminds me that I need to continue watching the show. That being said for some reason the the audiobook is on my want to read shelf. I don’t think I’ll be doing the audiobook for this one.

Remove

Red Tigress – Amelie Wen Zhao

Blood Heir was a really good book and one I may have to read before giving Red Tigress a go. There are so many beautiful book covers out there lately. Our princess has her dark secrets and I love that she has to work with a con man to to achieve what she needs.

Keep

Malice – Heather Walter

Malice is a Sleeping Beauty retelling I’ve been wanting to read for ages. I really need more hours in a day. I’ve heard a lot of amazing things about this book and the duology just recently released. I may need to bump this up on my TBR.

Keep

Master of One  – Jaida Jones & Danielle Bennett

Master of One sounded like a book I’d love and I did start my e-arc before it released. I don’t know if it was just me or the timing, but I couldn’t get into this story. When and if I’ll give this book another try is a mystery to me.

Removal Percentage: 40%
Current “to-read” shelf: 940

This week was a good week for my Down the TBR Hole progress. I almost removed half of the books on this week’s list. What did you think of my decisions? Would you have chosen differently? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you.
