Tag | Mid Year Freak Out Tag 2022

We didn’t do this tag last year but we did the three years before. And I think it’s a really fun one to do! So I decided to pick the tradition back up and go for it. So today I have the Mid Year Freak Out Tag for you all again. I’ve never read so little as I’ve done this year with only 21 books finished. But it is what it is and I do love to talk about those books. So let’s jump in!

Best Book You’ve Read So Far

The first book I read this year was also one of the best books I read! I absolutely adored If This Gets Out by Sophie Gonzales and Cale Dietrich. Sophie has quickly become a favorite of mine I want to read all of her books.

Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far

The Last Graduate!! I adored the first book in the series, A Deadly Education. And the second book did not disappoint. It was amazing and the ending had me screaming. I can’t wait for the last book in the series this year.

New Release You Haven’t Read Yet, But Want To

The Final Strife released last week and I’m ashamed to say I haven’t read it yet. I’ve had an eARC for months now and wanted to read it closer to the release date….

Most Anticipated Release For The Second Half Of The Year

The Golden Enclaves, The Final Gambit & All Of Our Demise. These are all conclusions to series and I am so excited for them! I love these series and it would be nice to finish three series with these books haha.

Biggest Disappointment

All the Right Reasons was probably my biggest disappointment. Not because it was a bad book but just because I was expecting so much more from it. I didn’t have as much fun as I hoped I would and it didn’t hit me in any feelings.

Biggest Surprise

This is probably a toss up between Only A Monster & I Kissed Shara Wheeler. Only A Monster was just so much better and more unique than I was expecting it to be. And I Kissed Shara Wheeler seemed like it was going with a premise I read (and didn’t really enjoy) before but it took me in a surprising direction!

Favorite New Author (Debut Or New To You)

Vanessa Len, the author of Only A Monster might be a new favorite author. I can’t truly decide after reading just one book but if it keeps going like this, I have high hopes!

Newest Fictional Crush

Most of the books I’ve read have been sequels or rereads so I can’t really say I have a new fictional crush. Possibly one of the boys from the Crescent City series! I especially loved Ithan.

Newest Favorite Character

I think I have to go in the same direction as with the previous question… Bryce form the Crescent City series is for sure a new favorite. She reminded me of Aelin a lot, but since I love her as well that didn’t really bother me haha.

Book That Made You Cry

It’s Not Summer Without You definitely made me cry. The whole storyline around Susannah broke my heart and the tears streamed over my face multiple times. Maybe I was just a bit emotional when I was reading this but yes, it got me crying a couple of times haha.

Favorite Book To Film Adaptation You’ve Seen This Year

I’m going to go with a book to tv show for this one as there is only one possible answer: Heartstopper! The graphic novels are absolutely amazing and the show managed to capture that feeling. I loved every second of it and I will for sure rewatch it before we get the second season.

Most Beautiful Book You’ve Bought Or Received This Year

Zero new books this year haha, so no answer for this one unfortunately.

What Book(s) Do You Need To Read By The End Of This Year

So many! I really need to read As Good As Dead and finish at least two series. That’s not too much to ask I would think… I haven’t finished that many series these past few year but I would love to do so now.

And that was the Mid Year Freak Out Book Tag! I can’t believe the year is half way over, time has absolutely flown by. What do you think of my choices? Come discuss them in the comments!
