Down the TBR Hole #78

Since my last Down the TBR Hole post two weeks ago I’ve only added a few books, but my want to read shelf still has 900+ books on it, haha. So I’ll continue doing these posts every other week.

Down the TBR Hole was originally created over at Lost in a Story. It looked like a fun and productive way to finally make a dent in that Goodreads TBR. I went through my want-to-read shelf a little while ago but I think I was still to kind on a lot of books. Let’s see what I’ll make of it this time around. I decided to go with 10 books at a time so lets get started!

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 or 15 or 20, if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?
  • Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!

Current “to-read” shelf: 936 (my last post ended at 931. So in 2 weeks I added 5 books. So that’s not bad at all!)

House of Hollow – Krystal Sutherland

So the first book of the week is a book I’ve already read, but had a different version on my want to read shelf. House of Hollow was so good. It was creepy and mysterious. I did figure out a couple of the twists, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

The Year of the Witching – Alexis Henderson

Witches and family secrets? Yes, please! The Year of the Witching seems like a darker story that will be perfect for a rainy autumn day. I own this paperback, so I definitely need to pick it up.

Keep

Kisses and Croissants – Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau

Kisses and Croissants is compared to Love and Gelato and that caught my attention. I love stories where the main character travels and has a goal, but also ends up discovering a lot about themselves. And if there’s a little romance I definitely won’t complain.

Keep

The Dating Plan – Sara Desai

I’m a fan of fake dating and The Dating Plan definitely sounds a book I’ll really enjoy. This book is the second of a series and I haven’t read the first one yet, so for now I’m taking this off my Goodreads shelf. I will be reading The Dating Plan though!

The Haunting of Aveline Jones – Phil Hickes

The Haunting of Aveline Jones is a spooky middle grade book I’ve really wanted to read and I’m really surprised I haven’t read this one yet. A spooky old book and the disappearance of the owner and this sounds like a perfect Halloween read.

Keep

I Hope You’re Listening – Tom Ryan

Yay for another book I’ve actually already read, but I just read a different edition. I Hope You’re Listening was an interesting read and I loved the podcast aspect of it. I may not listen to them myself, but I still love stuff like this. After reading I Hope You’re Listening I definitely want to read more by Tom Ryan.

Winter, White and Wicked – Shannon Dittemore

If I’m honest I’m on the fence about Winter, White and Wicked. I love the idea of this story, but when I had an e-arc and started reading it I just wasn’t pulled in and I was really struggling. I ended up putting it to the side and never picked it back up.

A Lady’s Formula for Love – Elizabeth Everett

Ever since reading Bringing Down the Duke I’ve been wanting to read more historical romances. I love that the main character is well beyond her time and fights for what she wants. Add a possible bodyguard romance and I can’t help but be intrigued.

Keep

The Switch – Beth O’Leary

What I love about this book is the fact that grandmother and granddaughter switch lives. Beth O’Leary is an author I’ve been really curious about and The Switch sounds like a book I’ll love. I’m curious to see how this all plays out.

Keep

Beyond the Ruby Veil – Mara Fitzgerald

I honestly didn’t remember that book, but seeing how there are so many books out there it is hard to remember them all, haha. A dark and queer fantasy for fans of the Three Dark Crowns series is how Beyond the Ruby Veil is described. I’d have to say that sounds like something I would enjoy.

I was lucky this week that a few of the books were books I’ve already read, but just had a different version. I love when that happens. What do you think of my other choices? Have you read any of them? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you.

  1. I’m laughing at the books being on your TBR that you’ve already read. I hate how this is something that GR allows to happen cause it always confuses the heck out of me lol
