As you know I’m a big fan of romances and especially romantic comedies. Today I’m participating on the blog tour for a new release. Set on You hit the shelves Tuesday and I highly recommend you pick this one up. Keep on reading to find out more about this book and what I thought.
A big thanks to Berkley Books and the author for providing me with an e-arc to read and review.
A gym nemesis pushes a fitness influencer to the max in Amy Lea’s steamy debut romantic comedy.
Curvy fitness influencer Crystal Chen built her career shattering gym stereotypes and mostly ignoring the trolls. After her recent breakup, she has little stamina left for men, instead finding solace in the gym – her place of power and positivity.
Enter firefighter Scott Ritchie, the smug new gym patron who routinely steals her favorite squat rack. Sparks fly as these ultra-competitive foes battle for gym domination. But after a series of escalating jabs, the last thing they expect is to run into each other at their grandparents’ engagement party.
In the lead up to their grandparents’ wedding, Crystal discovers there’s a soft heart under Scott’s muscled exterior. Bonding over family, fitness, and cheesy pick-up lines, she just might have found her swolemate. But when a photo of them goes viral, savage internet trolls put their budding relationship to the ultimate test of strength.
Review
I’m a reader who loves seeing curvy women in their own romance. So I was really excited when I was approached to participate on the book tour for this book. Set on You is a debut novel, but I wouldn’t say that. It had me hooked from the start and didn’t let me go.
As a reader I love books with text messages, emails, blog posts, Instagram posts, etc. So I was so excited to see how it would play a part in Set on You. Crystal is a fitness influencer and even though I’m not in that world it was interesting to read about. Loving your curves and body isn’t always the easiest for people and I thought that was handled well in this book. Starting from what she was saying to her followers to what she really felt. And how comments affected her and others. I loved how that side of the story developed and Crystal’s message changed.
Then there was Scott. Crystal and Scott don’t seem to like each other at first and are definitely enemies. It starts off with lots of teasing and frustration. The tension and their chemistry jumped off the page. I love how this led to an explosive relationship and how sweet it turned out to be. It was so much fun watching them fall for each other. There was some miscommunication, but it felt realistic. Thankfully there were more great moments than bad moments and they had me laughing out loud! The only thing that would’ve made this better was to have Scott’s POV. There were certain moments that I would’ve loved to have his inner thoughts about.
Also, we can’t forget the side characters! They also made this story. Crystal’s grandmother Flo was so much fun. I wouldn’t mind getting old and being like her, haha. Also, Tara (Crystal’s sister) was so much fun. I loved that she’s a bookstagrammer and I really want her story. Crystal had so many people in her corner and they definitely made this amazing story even better.
I hope Amy Lea gives us a lot more books! Set on You was an amazing debut. I highly recommend this book.

Set on You was an amazing book and I can’t wait until we get to read about Crystal’s sister. I’m so glad the author decided to write this book. It wouldn’t surprise me if this made my favorites list at the end of the year.
