Down the TBR Hole #75

After not doing a Down the TBR Hole for over a month I noticed last time that my want to read shelf had increased quite a bit again. So I’m going to try and do one every other week. I’m almost scared to see how much it’s increased in two weeks, haha.

Down the TBR Hole was originally created over at Lost in a Story. It looked like a fun and productive way to finally make a dent in that Goodreads TBR. I went through my want-to-read shelf a little while ago but I think I was still to kind on a lot of books. Let’s see what I’ll make of it this time around. I decided to go with 10 books at a time so lets get started!

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 or 15 or 20, if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?
  • Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!

Current “to-read” shelf: 912 (my last post ended at 902. So in 2 weeks I added 10 books. Oops! It’s definitely a good thing I’m doing these posts again.)

Sex and Vanity – Kevin Kwan

After loving Crazy Rich Asians I have to say I’m curious about Kevin Kwan’s other work. Sex and Vanity does sound a bit different than Crazy Rich Asians, but still sounds like something I may enjoy.

Keep

Heart Bones – Colleen Hoover

I have to say I still really love this cover! Colleen Hoover is an author I really enjoy, but have to say I’ve gotten a bit behind on all of her books. Heart Bones sounds like another book that’s going to break my heart into tiny pieces, but put me back together again.

Keep

Clap When You Land – Elizabeth Acvedo

I hear nothing but amazing things about this author’s books, but I have yet to give one a go. Clap When You Land is told in verse and books like that tend to be ones I find beautiful. This story sounds very emotional, but something that will be truly amazing. I may need to try the audiobook for this one.

Keep

The Ruthless Lady’s Guide to Wizardry – C.M. Waggoner

The title of this book is honestly what caught my attention and I love the concept. A female bodyguard that falls in love with another bodyguard and they must fight a magical foe? That sounds like quite the story!

Keep

Rosemary and the Witches of Pendle Hill – Samantha Giles

This middle grade book sounds very magical and a lot of fun. I love stories with witches, but I don’t know when I’ll get around to this one. Seeing how I don’t own it either. Rosemary and the Witches of Pendle Hill is one I may come back to though.

One More Step – Edited by Lillian Schneider

All 26 authors of this anthology were given the same first sentence to start their story. I think this is such an interesting concept. It will probably take me quite some time to get through all of these stories, but there are a few authors I enjoy that have stories in this one.

Keep

Well This Sucks – Carrie Gray & Coralee June

I still love this title and it sounds like the perfect Halloween book. Well This Sucks is one I actually started if I remember correctly, but as usual I got distracted, haha. It seems like this one is filled with humor as well, so I’ll be coming back to this one in October.

Keep

Ready Player Two – Ernest Cline

So I loved Ready Player One and was really excited to hear that the sequel was releasing. If I’m honest I’ve seen a lot of mixed reviews for this one. I’m still curious though. So I’m keeping Ready Player Two around.

Keep

Deepfake – Sarah Darer Littman

Seeing how I’ve been loving thrillers and mysteries, Deepfake definitely caught my attention. To be honest the whole concept of Deepfake is pretty scary. The fact that someone could make a video of you saying anything and no one can tell it’s fake. I have a feeling this is going to be quite the ride!

Keep

My Imaginary Mary – Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton & Jodi Meadows

Okay, this is one I don’t have to think about at all. After loving The Lady Janies and My Contrary Mary I had to add this one to my list. These three authors know how to take history and give it a twist. I’m excited to read their Mary Shelley story that releases later this year.

Wow, I did really bad this week. Only one book taken off my want to read list, haha. I can’t help it though, because all of these books truly sound amazing. Have you read any of these books? Do you agree with my choices? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you.
