After the holidays we had a few favorite lists to posts on Sundays and the start of the year was also in the weekend and because of that it’s been over a month since my last Down the TBR Hole and I’m almost afraid to see how many books I’ve added to my Goodreads want to read shelf, haha. Hopefully I can start doing these posts regularly again.
Down the TBR Hole was originally created over at Lost in a Story. It looked like a fun and productive way to finally make a dent in that Goodreads TBR. I went through my want-to-read shelf a little while ago but I think I was still to kind on a lot of books. Let’s see what I’ll make of it this time around. I decided to go with 10 books at a time so lets get started!
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 or 15 or 20, if you’re feeling adventurous) books
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
- Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!
Current “to-read” shelf: 882 (my last post ended at 859. So 23 new books since last time. It’s more than I hoped, but let’s see if we can shrink my list.)
All the Things We Never Knew – Liara Tamani
This one definitely has an interesting cover and I have to say I’m still intrigued. Discovering your first love, but also family secrets are definitely things I’m interested in reading about.

The Magic in Changing Your Stars – Leah Henderson
Even though the whole time traveling adventure and the lesson of believing in yourself sounds really intriguing (also look at this cute cover) I don’t really think I’ll be picking this one up anytime soon. The Magic in Changing Your Stars may be one I pick up in the future though.

Happily Ever Afters – Elise Bryant
I’ve really loved the cover of Happily Ever Afters since I saw the cover reveal. Also, the story still sounds right up my alley. There was a companion novel released recently, so I think it’s time for me to read this one sooner and I can after receiving the paperback for Christmas.
Keep
Happily Ever After & Everything In Between – Debbie Tung
Happily Ever After & Everything In Between is a bundle of comics. I’ve read two other bundles by this author in the past and they’re very relatable. I love when you find a comic you can really relate to. This is one I don’t own yet, so I think for now I’ll take it off my list, but I will revisit it in the future.
Remove
Mooncakes – Suzanne Walker & Wendy Xu
Mooncakes is a graphic novel I saw all over the place when it released and it sounds really cute. Isabelle loved this one and I have to say I’m still curious. A teen witch, a book shop, and a romance are definitely things I love reading about.
Keep
It Sounded Better in My Head – Nina Kenwood
Teenage romance can definitely be awkward. I mean you’re growing up, a lot is changing, and then hormones hit. It Sounded Better in My Head sounds like a book anyone can relate to and that teenagers will really understand. I love this cover and definitely want to give this one a try.
Keep
Shaking Up the House – Yamile Saied Méndez
I have to say it’s really sweet to see a middle grade book take place at the White House. When one family will be leaving for the next president’s family to move in the practical jokes are planned. But do they go too far? Shaking Up the House still sounds really cute, but I don’t own this one at the moment and don’t think I’ll be getting it soon. So for now I’ll be taking it off the shelf, but it’s one I still eventually want to read.
Remove
Fire with Fire – Destiny Soria
Destiny Soria also wrote Beneath the Citadel and I really enjoyed that book, so when Fire with Fire came out I was intrigued. I even have the e-arc on Netgalley and really need to read it. This book has dragons and sorcerers and those are things I love to read about.
Keep
Now That I’ve Found You – Kristina Forest
It’s actually pretty funny that this one is on my Down the TBR Hole this week, because it’s one I’ll actually be reading in February. Now That I’ve Found You is going to be a group read in TBR and Beyond. So of course I’ll be keeping it, but I’ll be taking it off this shelf soon.
Keep
The Midnight Bargain – C.L. Polk
If I remember correctly I actually added The Midnight Bargain to my list after seeing its cover. I mean it’s truly stunning!! The story also still sounds amazing with all the magic and obstacles. I need to keep this one around.

So that was my first Down the TBR Hole of 2022! I removed three books. That’s not a lot, but at least it’s something. What do you think of my choices? Have you read any of these and think I should choose differently? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you.
Yesss Mooncake sounds so good! I have it on my TBR as well! I need to buy it one of these days and read it! 😍
