TTT #219 | Books I Meant to Read in 2021 But Didn’t Get To Part 1

We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is most recent additions to my book collection. Seeing how we just did a bookhaul this topic doesn’t seem necessary. So I decided to take a go at next week’s topic: Books I Meant to Read in 2021 But Didn’t Get To. There were more than 10 releases I didn’t get to, but here are ones that are getting priority in 2022.

Chain of Gold – Cassandra Clare

Chain of Gold released almost two years ago and I’ve put this on so many TBRs, haha. It’s still a book I really want to read and I think it’s the size of the book that’s been putting me off. I lowered my Goodreads challenge this year to tackle bigger books. So Chain of Gold and Chain of Iron are on top of my list.

A Court of Silver Flames – Sarah J Maas

A Court of Thorns and Roses is a series I really love and I was very excited when I first saw this book being announced. A Court of Silver Flames is about Nesta and even though she’s not a likable character a lot has happened to make it this way. I’m curious about her journey!

Perfect on Paper – Sophie Gonzales

Only Mostly Devastated was a book I really loved. So when Perfect on Paper was announced it went right on my want to read list. Especially with there being anonymous love advice and a possible blackmail situation I need to know more. Again another book that’s been on many TBRs. It needs to be read.

The Cost of Knowing – Brittney Morris

Out of all the books on this list I think I’m most surprised I haven’t read The Cost of Knowing. It did take a while before the paperback was available, so that didn’t help. Slay is still one of my favorite books, so this one needs to be read soon.

Dead Voices – Katherine Arden

Small Voices is still one of the spookiest middle grade books that I’ve read. So Dead Voices easily got on to my list of books I need to read soon. Enough time has passed that the third book in this series has been released and the fourth book had a cover reveal. These books aren’t that long, so I bet I could finish it in one go.

Hollowpox – Jessica Townsend

Nevermoor is such a fun middle grade series and I’ve loved the first two books. I had every intention of reading Hollowpox as soon as I got my hands on it, but then the fourth book was delayed or was just releasing later than I expected, so I decided to put it off closer to the release of the next book. The fourth book releases in October of this year, so I can finally read Hollowpox soon.

Happily Ever Afters – Elise Bryant

I’m a big fan of books with characters that love books or writing, so Happily Ever Afters definitely caught my attention. And how could I pass up this gorgeous cover?!? I had the e-book, but received the paperback for Christmas and I need to make time to dive in.

American Royals – Katharine McGee

American Royals is another book on my list that I’ve added to so many TBRs, but just still haven’t read. I feel like a broken record writing this post, haha. I have e-arcs of both books and the paperbacks, so I really need to make these a priority. The author just announced a new novella and book in this series, so time to read. Royals in America definitely sounds interesting.

Boyfriend Material – Alexis Hall

As a big fan of the fake dating trope I knew I needed Boyfriend Material in my life. This is a book I’ve seen everywhere and a few of my friends really loved it, so I know I will. Also, I recently read Murder Most Actual by this author and now need all the books.

Skyward – Brandon Sanderson

After reading Mistborn  I kind of decided to want to read all of the books written by this author. Skyward is another book I’ve seen all over the place and heard many good things about. I’ve been wanting to read more science fiction, so this one had to be on my TBR. Isabelle and I were going to buddyread this one, but then got distracted, haha.

    1. The first one of her series was so spooky, but so good!!

  1. I had planned to read Hollowpox but I’m hoping to definitely read it this year, especially since learning that the next book is set for release later this year! I can’t wait 😍 I hope you enjoy these books whenever you get to them!

    1. I hope we both love Hollowpox and the next book in the series <3

    1. I’m glad to hear that. Hopefully I can fit it in soon.

  2. SKYWARD is on my list today, too! I bought it for my son because several people recommended it to me as a good sci-fi adventure for teens. I hope you—and he—enjoy it.

    Happy TTT!
