TTT #218 | Most Anticipated Releases for the First Half of 2022 Part 2

We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Most Anticipated Releases for the First Half of 2022. Last week Candyce shared her list and today it’s my turn. I tried to pick 10 different books to keep it interesting. Let’s jump in!

1.The Final Strife – Saara El-Arifi

I can’t wait to read this one! And I actually have an eARC for it, I’m so so excited. I think this is going to be an amazing read, you can say I have very high hopes haha.

2. Katzenjammer – Francesca Zappia

I loved Francesca’s Eliza and her Monsters so I’m excited to pick up another book by her. This story sounds a bit weird haha, but also very interesting. I hope the ending and explanation for what is going on will be good!

3. The Midnight Orchestra – Jessica Khoury

I listened to the first book in the Mystwick School and the prequel novella, can’t wait to get to this second book. The plot was somewhat predictable but I loved the magic system and I really liked the characters, so I have good hopes for this second book.

4. Book of Night – Holly Black

I really liked Holly’s The Folk of the Air series and this new adult fantasy book sounds like it’ll be right up my alley. ‘Shadowy thieves and secret societies’ you can sign me up! The main character is a con artist and I just love reading about those kind of characters.

5. Survive the Dome – Kosoko Jackson

I have high hopes for this one! It sounds like a mix between ‘Under the Dome’ and ‘Containment’ with a focus on Black Lives Matter. I think it’s going to be an incredible story.

6. A Magic Steeped in Poison – Judy I. Lin

Look at that cover! And this magical story sounds so good. A competition of shennong-shi, the ancient and magical art of tea-making, sounds really cool. Especially with back-stabbing competitors and bloody court politics.

7. The Red Palace – June Hur

I was expecting this to be a fantasy at first haha. But it’s a historical murder mystery and that sounds amazing as well. The early reviews are amazing and I think I will enjoy it a lot. I like the synopsis and already ship the main characters haha.

8. I Am Margaret Moore – Hannah Capin

Hannah Capin’s Foul is Fair is such a great book and I loved it with my whole heart. I also really enjoyed The Dead Queens Club so I can’t wait to read this one. And luckily I have an eARC. So I plan on reading this very soon. It’s a paranormal thriller and I hope it’s as dark as Foul is Fair.

9. Summer’s Edge – Dana Mele

I really enjoyed Dana’s People Like Us so I’m excited for her next book. This is a paranormal mystery and it sounds really good. A killer in a friend group is always interesting and I can’t wait to find out the motive.

10. Portrait of a Thief – Grace D. Li

This is inspired by a true story and is compared to Ocean’s Eleven one of my very favorite movies ever. It’s a cultural heist story but it’s also about the lingering effects of colonialism and that sounds both interesting and important.

  1. Book of Night and Portrait of a Thief are both on my list! I absolutely can’t wait for either, but especially the latter for the themes of colonialism and having Asian rep is important to me

  2. Great list—there are so many titles I’m also looking forward to on here! I had Magic Steeped in Poison on my list today too but the most popular one I’ve seen so far is Book of Night. 😂 I hope you enjoy all these books!
