I was debating what to call this bookish item for a while but I finally came across the term Audio Dramas. Another term I found was fiction podcasts. In short, it’s like listening to a tv show or to an audiobook with only dialogue and background noises. You listen to a podcast but it’s a fictional story. And I am hooked!! So today I wanted to talk about it!
I was listening to one of podcasts on Spotify when I heard an ad for Tejana. And at first I couldn’t really figure out what it was supposed to be as I never heard of anything like it. But soon I realised that it was a fictional story told in multiple episodes. And I decided to give it a try! On another podcast I heard an ad for something similar so I tried that as well. And now I just want more and more haha.
The first audio drama I listened to was Tejana. This is about a Texas ranger (narrated by Stephanie Beatriz) and for now there are 6 episodes. It has a full cast and I love all the background noises. For me it’s like listening to a tv-show but I don’t have to watch it and I can simultaneously do something else. I really enjoyed the story in Tejana. We follow 3 cases with 2 episodes each. I can’t wait for the next season!
The second audio drama I found was Princess of South Beach. I’m currently listening to this one. There are new episodes 3 times a week and every episode is available in both English and Spanish. The episodes are about 10 to 15 minutes each so I’m flying through it haha. Princess of South Beach is basically a telenovela and already has all the dramatics of one haha. Once again, a full cast and fun background noises to really sell the story.
Or course I’m already on the hunt for more of these. And I didn’t know there were so many haha. I’ll name a couple I want try in the near future; SED, Wooden Overcoats, The Amelia Project, The Penumbra Project and Alba Salix, Royal Physician. If you listened to any of these I would love to hear if you enjoyed them! And of course, if you have any recommendations let me know down below.
