Bookish Item| Netgalley Backlist Part 8

It’s time for another Netgalley Backlist post and it’s already time for the 8th post! If you want to read my last Netgalley Backlist, click here for part 7. I still have way too many Netgalley e-arcs to read and I’m hoping these posts get me even more motivated to start reading these. Let’s take a look at the next 8 books!

Of Curses and Kisses – Sandhya Menon

Of Curses and Kisses is a contemporary Beauty and the Beast retelling and it sounds really cute. Also, I love books that take place at boarding schools, so this book is already scoring points. I know Isabelle thought this one was cute, but not the best book she’s read, so I’ll have to give it a try soon and see what I think.

Belle Revolte – Linsey Miller

Okay, when looking up the synopsis for Belle Revolte again I just realized I have two other books by this author. I really need to start giving this author a try. I love books when characters trade places to get things done. Belle Revolte sounds like a book right up my alley.

Dramatically Ever After – Isabel Bandeira

I read the first book in this series Bookishly Ever After and really enjoyed it. If I remember correctly the main character in Dramatically Ever After is one we’ve met in the first book. It sounds like a cute contemporary and a fast read.

The Midnight Lie – Marie Rutkoksi

The Midnight Lie takes place in the same world as this author’s The Winner’s trilogy. I think one of the reasons I haven’t read this one yet is because I want to read that trilogy first. It’s been said you don’t have to, but I’m the type of reader who likes to read like that.

Incendiary – Zoraida Córdova

Can you imagine being able to steal memories? That sounds like such a weird gift to have. So I’m definitely intrigued. Our main character is also working against the crown as a spy. I only needed to know those two things to know I needed to read Incendiary.

The Love Hypothesis – Laura Steven

Laura Steven wrote The Exact Opposite of Okay and that’s one of my favorite books. The Love Hypothesis also sounds like a book I’m going to love. This book is recommended for fans of Sex Education, Booksmart, Becky Albertalli’s Love, Simon and Jenny Han’s To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. I love just about all of these, so I knew I needed to read it.

Last Girls – Demetra Brodsky

There are always a couple of books on these posts that really make me wonder why I haven’t read them yet. Last Girls is one of these books. Demetra Brodsky wrote Dive Smack and I loved that story. Our main characters live on a prepper compound and it sounds like one wild ride.

The Unwilling – Kelly Braffet

From what I’ve read The Unwilling is a dark fantasy. It sounds interesting. I’m definitely interested in this world and its characters. The Unwilling seems to have mixed reviews, so I’ll have to find out where I am in all of these opinions.

So these are the next 8 books on my Netgalley backlist I need to read. Have you read any of these? If so, please let me know which one I should pick up first. I’d love to hear what you think of these titles.

  1. I’d agree with Isabelle about Of Curses and Kisses not being phenomenal, but still pretty cute. If you’re up for a fairytale re-telling, it’s pretty good, and definitely improves upon the original’s faults, but doesn’t quite have the wow factor I crave from romance. Also, the audiobook narrator for the guy may have compromised my experience since his voice didn’t really do it for me, personally. Have fun!
