Bookhaul| September 2021

It’s the first day of October (how is this year going by so fast?!?!), so it’s time to see what books we added to our shelves in September! How did we do? Were our bank accounts safe? Or did we welcome a few new books? Keep on reading to see our September bookhaul!

Candyce

September was a pretty good month for me. I added 6 books to my shelves! They were mostly buddy/group reads. The next few months will be slower, because I need to be able to have books to add to my Christmas lists (I can’t believe it’s already time to say that).

Under the Whispering Door – TJ Klune

The House in the Cerulean Sea was one of my favorite reads, so I’ve been anxiously awaiting Klune’s next book. Another stunning cover and I’ll be reading Under the Whispering Door in October.

The Girl in the Tower – Katherine Arden

To continue with our series readalong of The Winternight Trilogy I added the second book to my shelves. I love these UK covers. The writing is very lyrical and I’m curious to see how this trilogy will end when I pick up the last book next month.

Hang the Moon – Alexandria Bellefleur

Written in the Stars was an audiobook I really enjoyed. Hang the Moon was a bookstagram book club book for September. I started the audio, but realized I wanted to read this one physically. A cover like this has to be on my shelf!

The Book of Accidents – Chuck Wendig

The Book of Accidents isn’t normally a book I’d pick up, but people seem to be really loving it. This was a bookstagram book club read, but I ended up not getting to this one at time. It’s a horror book, so October will be a perfect time to give it a go.

Blood & Honey – Shelby Mahurin

After loving Serpent & Dove I knew I needed to get my hands on the sequel right away. While typing this I’m about halfway through Blood & Honey. I’m not loving it as much as the first book, but I’m still enjoying the ride.

The Devil Makes Three – Tori Bovalino

The Devil Makes Three was the Illumicrate book for August. I didn’t get this one until September, so sharing it with this bookhaul. I’m so glad I have a subscription, because this cover is stunning!! The original is interesting, but this book is just gorgeous. I may have to sneak this one in during October, because it sounds like the perfect book for around Halloween.

Isabelle

I got three new books this month. One was the manga I was expecting last month, one was a preorder I placed somewhere at the start of the year and lastly a book I got when I was shopping in another city. Let’s dive in.

Death Note Black Edition vol. IV – Tsugumi Ohba

This one finally arrived! I was very happy to get it in the mail (even though I had to pay customs because it apparently came out of the UK even though I ordered through Amazon.de but I digress haha). This was the next volume so I couldn’t continue reading until I had this one. I hope to read volume IV and V soon and then I just have to get the last one!

The Lights of Prague – Nicole Jarvis

I was away for a weekend with a friend and we went shopping there as well. Of course I had to dip into the bookstore for a quick browse. And I found this book, I have been looking at this one so many times now. So I decided I just had to get it, it kept calling me. It sounds like an amazing fantasy and I hope to read it soon.

Empire of the Vampire – Jay Kristoff

I preordered this book months ago! It’s was quite stressful as the Waterstones website kept crashing haha. But it’s finally here. I really enjoy this cover and I’m super excited to read it. Candyce is getting the Illumicrate edition and I hope we can buddyread it next month. I’ve seen amazing reviews so I have very high hopes!

That’s our September bookhaul. Have you read any of the books we got last month? What books did you add to your shelves in September? Let us know in the comments! We’d love to hear from you.
