We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s topic is Books Guaranteed to Put a Smile On Your Face. For me that’s almost always romances or good contemporary stories. Let’s talk about ten books that had me smiling while reading! I’m sure a few of these I’ve talked about recently for a Top Ten Tuesday post.
Better Than the Movies – Lynn Painter
As a romantic comedy fan my heart was happy when I found out the main character loves them just as much as I do. This is such a cute book and I enjoyed every minute of it. I knew how it was going to end, but that made it all the more fun to see how we got there.
Dial A for Aunties – Jesse Q. Sutanto
Dial A for Aunties is often over the top, but this book had me laughing out loud quite a few times while I was reading. The family goes really far to cover a dead body, but in the end they really just love each other. If you’re looking for a feel good book I suggest this one.
Undercover Bromance – Lyssa Kay Adams
To be honest any of the Bromance Book Club books could make this list. A group of men read romances to help their love lives. The characters are a lot of fun and they definitely get themselves in some weird situations.
Crazy Rich Asians – Kevin Kwan
Crazy Rich Asians is a book I heard a lot about before reading it. At the moment I’m actually reading the third book in this trilogy and I’ve loved every book so far. There is so much drama and issues, but it’s just so much fun! Again, these books have made me laugh out loud multiple times.
The Unhoneymooners – Christina Lauren
Christina Lauren is an author duo that is known for their romantic comedies and they do it well. The Unhoneymooners is a enemies to lovers romance and I have to say I won’t look at an open buffet the same ever again. These two characters are amazing and I’ve read this book twice already.
So The Guncle isn’t always a happy book and definitely deals with some heavier subjects. That being said there are a lot of heartwarming moments and moments that really make you laugh. I definitely see this book making my top books of the year.
The Extraordinaries – TJ Klune
TJ Klune is quickly becoming a favorite author and I’ve only read two books by him so far. The Extraordinaries is a book that hits you in all the feels, but had me laughing so much. Our main character is also oblivious that his best friend is in love with him. Add the element of superheroes and The Extraordinaries is quite an interesting book. I can’t wait to read the sequel.
Today Tonight Tomorrow – Rachel Lynn Solomon
This is another enemies to lovers romance and so much fun. Our main characters end up working together and liking each other more than they expect. I flew through this story and want to re-read it soon!
Spoiler Alert was a book I was looking forward to for so long and it met all of my expectations. There’s fan fiction, amazing characters, a con, and one amazing romance. The sequel releases soon and kind of makes me want to read Spoiler Alert all over again first. I may just have to listen to the audiobook.
My Lady Jane – Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, & Jodi Meadows
My Lady Jane is the first book in this trilogy where the authors take history and give it a twist. I don’t think any historical fiction book has made me laugh as much as this one. I really recommend the audiobook, because the narrator is just amazing!

It’s definitely dramatic and over the top at times, but it’s a lot of fun!
Great recs! Dial A for Aunties and My Lady Jane were smiling books for sure!
Both are truly amazing!
Undercover Bromance was definitely a good one! Happy reading! https://readwithstefani.com/ten-books-set-in-magic-schools/
The Unhoneymooners also made my list this week! (And scarred me for life on open buffets, haha.) Great list 🙂
Better than the Movies is one I want to read.

I recently read Better Than the Movies, and I enjoyed every moment of it. I think it’s like a rom-com, in that you watch it every time you need a comfy, cozy moment. This book had the same vibe. I hope to read The Gruncle this month.

I recently read
The Unhoneymooners, last week! I enjoyed it. I listened to Crazy Rich Asians. It was good, but it didn’t bowl me over. From your list, I think Undercover Bromance, Today Tomorrow Tonight, and Spoiler Alert. I think enemies to lovers is in my wheelhouse! Great post. Thanks for sharing and the recommendations.
I rarely read romance, but I did enjoy THE UNHONEYMOONERS. It’s definitely a smile-inducing novel!
Happy TTT!
