This year is going by so fast! And yes we’ve said that before haha, but it is true ;). It’s the first day of September, so that means it’s time to talk about the books we added to our shelves in August. Were we good? Keep on reading to see our August bookhaul!
Candyce
August was actually a good month for me. I added four books to my shelves. Two I picked up when I went to visit a new mall here and the other two were my June and July Illumicrate book. They are both stunning!
Ace of Spades – Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé
Ace of Spades is one of my most anticipated releases of 2021. I’m loving thrillers and this sounded like one I needed in my life. Also, the cover is just stunning. This is a book I’ve actually already started and let me tell you it’s hard to put down!
As Good As Dead – Holly Jackson
As Good As Dead is the next book in the A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series. I really loved the first two books and the novella and I’ve been anxiously awaiting this book. So when I saw it at the bookstore I had to buy it. Hopefully I get to this one in September.
The Wolf and the Woodsman – Ava Reid
When I first saw the cover of The Wolf and the Woodsman I have to say I became curious. The Illumicrate edition is also very stunning and making me want to pick up this book even more. This book is inspired by Hungarian history and Jewish mythology. This seems like it will be the perfect autumn read.
She Who Became the Sun – Shelley Parker-Chan
She Who Became the Sun had a gorgeous cover, but the Illumicrate edition took it to the next level. This book is just stunning! She Who Became the Sun is pitched as Mulan meets The Song of Achilles. I have to say this isn’t the type of book I usually read, but it sounds amazing.
Isabelle
This month I actually did once again add a couple of books! I got three new books, and one is possibly still on the way haha. Two YA mysteries and one (maybe two) manga. So let’s take a look.
Death Note Black Edition V (and IV) – Tsugumi Ohba
After reading volume 3 I really wanted to get the rest because I need to continue this series. Apparently there are some problems and these editions are pretty hard to get right now. I ordered vol 4, 5 & 6 so I could binge read the whole series. But the order for volume 6 got canceled and vol 4 was lost somewhere along the way. I do hope volume 4 will still come or I’ll have to look for another one. And I think I will wait for a bit to get volume 6.
As Good As Dead – Holly Jackson
I had to get this one! The first two books were amazing and super fast reads. I of course wanted to read the third book in the series and since it was released recently I just had to get it. Luckily it was also quite cheap so I decided to get another book haha. And that’s the next book coming up.
The Cousins – Karen McManus
Like I said, I ‘had’ to get another book with my order and I really wanted another YA mystery. They are what I most easily read these last months. I looked at a couple I wanted but I’ll admit this one was the cheapest haha. And it was also one I wanted! I liked the Karen McManus books I read before and I’m excited for this one.
So that was our August book haul! We both didn’t do too bad. Have you read the books we bought? Let us know in the comments! Also, let us know what books you received or bought in August! We’d love to hear from you.
Ohh, great hauls for both of you! Hope you enjoy your new books, and I really have to get As Good as Dead now that I am back home from my vacation.
