So once again it’s only been a week since my last Down the TBR Hole, but seeing how I’ve added 5 books to my want to read shelf since then it’s not a bad thing! Let’s see if I can do as well as last week.
Down the TBR Hole was originally created over at Lost in a Story. It looked like a fun and productive way to finally make a dent in that Goodreads TBR. I went through my want-to-read shelf a little while ago but I think I was still to kind on a lot of books. Let’s see what I’ll make of it this time around. I decided to go with 10 books at a time so lets get started!
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 or 15 or 20, if you’re feeling adventurous) books
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
- Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!
Current “to-read” shelf: 856 (my last post ended at 851. I added five books in a week. That’s definitely an oops…)
Meet Cute Club – Jack Harbon
A lover of books and an employee at a bookstore sounds like the perfect start of a romance. Add in a book club and I’m sold. This book isn’t very long, so it’s one I probably could read in one sitting.
Keep
Doctor Dearest – R.S. Grey
I’m a big fan of R.S. Grey’s stories and Doctor Dearest does sound like a lot of fun. I always pick up her books when I need a laugh. I honestly don’t know when I’ll get to this one, because I have quite a few backlog books from this author. So far now I’m taking it off my list.
Remove
Crazy Stupid Bromance – Lyssa Kay Adams
The Bromance Book Club series is one I’ve really loved so far. I even had an e-arc for the fourth book, so I read them a bit out of order. Crazy Stupid Bromance is on my shelf and ready to be read and has a cat cafe, so this one needs to stick around.
Keep
Runaway Road – Devney Perry
This happens at least once it seems every time I do a Down the TBR Hole. I’ve read Runaway Road and loved it, but I read a different edition. I can really recommend this series, but can take it off my want to read shelf.

That Way Madness Lies – Edited by Dahlia Adler
This is a bundle of short stories and a group of authors put a modern day twist on Shakespeare’s classics. An anthology tends to be a hit or miss for me, because short stories just don’t always do it for me. I honestly don’t know if I will pick this one up.
Remove
Wasted Words – Staci Hart
Wasted Words is a romantic comedy inspired by Jane Austen’s Emma. I’ve read books by Staci Hart before and they have made me laugh out loud. I love the fact that one of the main characters loves books. This one is on my shelf and I hope to read it soon.
Keep
Bookish and the Beast – Ashley Poston
Bookish and the Beast is the third book in Once Upon a Con series and I’m really looking forward to it. I still want to read the second book (The Princess and the Fangirl) first. Even though you can read these as standalones. This also seems to be a Beauty and the Beast retelling.
Keep
Among the Beasts & Briars – Ashley Poston
I’ve actually started reading Among the Beasts & Briars for a group read, but got distracted, haha. The cover is stunning and I’m glad it’s on my shelf. It is my goal to read this one before the end of the year.
Keep
Sleeping to Dream – Kelsey Kingsley
Kelsey Kingsley is one of my favorite authors and Sleeping to Dream is a book she announced awhile ago. But there is no date set and I can’t remember if she told us what it was about. I’ll read anything by this author though.
Keep
Pepper’s Rules for Secret Sleuthing – Briana McDonald
Nancy Drew meets Harriet the Spy is all I needed to read to know I wanted this book. The cover is amazing, so that definitely helps as well. I love reading mysteries and middle grade books have been truly amazing lately, so I have to make sure to get this one.

Removal Percentage: 30%
Current “to-read” shelf: 853
So I managed to remove three books from my want to read shelf this week. I’ll take that as a win! What do you think of my choices? Should I have decided differently for any of them? Let me know in the comments!
I cried reading Bookish and the Beast. It just hit all the right snares for me. Hope you’ll enjoy it too!
