Bookish Item | Bookish Beginnings: All of Us Villains – Amanda Foody & Christine Lynn Herman

It’s time for another Bookish Beginnings. The last one was in February, so it’s been a while, haha. This meme was created by Rose City Reader. The idea is to post the first sentence or so of the book you’re currently reading. After that you talk about your initial thoughts about the sentence, book or anything to do with that. We both got an eARC of All of Us Villains last week and wanted to start reading it right away! Today we’ll share our first thoughts, let’s get into it!

Bookish Item | Bookish Beginnings: All of Us Villains – Amanda Foody & Christine Lynn Herman

The Blood Moon rises. The Blood Veil falls. The Tournament begins.
Every generation, at the coming of the Blood Moon, seven families in the remote city of Ilvernath each name a champion to compete in a tournament to the death.
The prize? Exclusive control over a secret wellspring of high magick, the most powerful resource in the world--one thought long depleted.
This year, thanks to a salacious tell-all book, the seven champions are thrust into worldwide spotlight, granting each of them new information, new means to win, and most importantly: a choice - accept their fate or rewrite their story.
But this is a story that must be penned in blood.

The Lowe family had always been the undisputed villains of their town’s ancient, bloodstained story, and no one understood that better than the Lowe brothers.

I was so excited to get my hands on this e-arc and I have to say this first sentence definitely had me curious. I’m hoping for a very dark book with a great cast of villains. The cover and first line have my expectations high!

Isabelle and I have decided to read only a couple of chapters a day. We’re both busy, have to read other things as well and just want to pace ourselves with what we hope is an amazing story. I’ve loved the first few chapters and I have a feeling it may be hard to stop reading after getting further into this book. I haven’t read many good villain stories, so I’m excited!

First off, I was so excited to get this eARC!! It sounds like a story I will adore and I couldn’t believe my luck, haha. Luckily Candyce was as excited as I am and we started reading the book right away. We are pacing ourselves a bit but it starts off amazing.

I really liked this first sentence. It sets the tone of the story right away. I also love a good villain or anti-hero, and it sounds like we will get a book full of them. It looks like we will get 4 POV’s and I hope they’re going to be brutal ;).

So those are our thoughts and hopes for All of Us Villains. Are you excited for this release? We hope to share our reviews with you all soon!
