When you’re reading this I have been in France for two days but I’m writing this while I’m still at home haha. I’m going to France for a week and of course I am bringing some books with me. This is always such a hard part of packing my bag. While I also have my ebooks and audiobooks, I need some physical books and I you have to leave the rest at home… Interested to see which ones I decided to bring? Let’s take a look!
This Is How You Lose the Time War – Amal El-Mohtar & Max Gladstone
I’ve started this a while ago, loved it but never finished it. And it’s a pretty thin book. So I feel like this might be one of the first books I’ll finish on this trip. Maybe even on the ride over there. We’re going to be in the car for about 7-8 hours and I’ll be driving for a max of 3 hours probably. So that leaves at least 4 hours to read, and you know I can finish that book in less time than that haha.
Death Note Black Edition vol 3 – Tsugumi Ohba
I like taking manga or comics with me, and I don’t have that many on my TBR anymore. Death Note has been on my TBR the longest and I can’t believe I still haven’t taken the time to read this one. I really enjoyed the first two volumes and I’m excited to see where the story takes us.
Fruits Basket Collectors Edition vol 3 – Natsuki Takaya
This is another manga and I also loved the first two volumes for this one. It’s such a cute story and I just really enjoy reading about these characters. I also want to watch the anime but I won’t continue until I’ve finished the books. And that can take a while because there are 12 volumes.
Jade City – Fonda Lee
This is one of my most recent purchases and I just want to read it so badly! It sounds like something I will love and I hope it will live up to my expectations. The whole trilogy while be out by the end of December and I think it would be great to read that final instalment while everyone might be talking about it.
They Wish They Were Us – Jessica Goodman
I love reading mysteries and thrillers while I’m enjoying the sun haha. It somehow feels like the perfect type of book to pick up when it’s sunny and I think this will be a fun one. I like the sound of it and I hope I’ll get some great twists.
Ace of Spades – Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé
This is my actual most recent addition to my shelves. I bought it last weekend and I’m very excited to read it. When I got it, I knew I wanted to read this during my vacation. I’ve been looking forward to it all year and I’m so happy to finally have it in my hands.
Godsgrave – Jay Kristoff
I wanted to bring one more book with me. And I thought it would be good to pick a book I had already started at some point. I loved Nevernight and I really enjoyed what I read of Godsgrave so far. Darkdawn has been sitting on my shelves as well and I hope to finish the trilogy soon!
Those are the books I plan on reading in France! Which one should I pick up first? Let me know down below!
Amazing list! I loved TIME WAR, and DEATHNOTE is one of my all-time favorite mangas. And THE GREEN BONE SAGA is up next month for me. I think you are going to get some awesome reading done in France. Have a great time!
Ohhh, those are some amazing looking books. I would highly recommend They Wish They Were Us and Death Note. I hope you have a fantastic time in France. 🙂
I was a bit disappointed with They Wish They Were Us, as there wasn’t nearly as much investigation/clue-finding as answers just fell in their laps. But it did have some good red herrings and okay characters, so I hope you enjoy.

I really liked Nevernight – I need to read the other two. I’m curious about Death Note – I haven’t read any of those!
